What changed?

Compiled FAPs

Compiled FAP/FXR support. The use of external (non-library) resources has greatly diminished as it is preferred and recommended to use library management. Given that external compiled resources were platform dependent, this means the 64 bit upgrade invalidates those old files. Going forward with 64-bit, the CompiledFAP=Yes option will be ignored and no error will occur. If you continue to use a non-library managed system, FAP resources will load from disk instead of compiled FAP files.

BND Files

DB2 and SQL bind (BND) files will no longer be provided with the 64-bit release. Preferably customers already or will move to JDBC support instead as this offers the best independent support.

DB2 Specific Driver

The DB2 specific driver has been discouraged for some time. Documaker will no longer provide a specific DB2 driver in the 64-bit release. Preferably customers already or will move to JDBC support instead as this offers the best independent support.

Utilities

Support for the legacy component FormPub.exe, FD2HTW32 and PTFMDW32 have been dropped. These utilities were used for generating external resources for situations no longer considered relevant in the 64-bit release of Documaker.

Why did it change?

These components described above are considered outdated and not recommended. Moving to the new 64-bit platform seemed an appropriate time to discontinue their inclusion.

How does this affect you?

These changes could affects if you were using one of the referenced items.

Are changes needed to my setup for this change to take effect?

Yes.

If you were using DB2 or SQL specific drivers, it is recommended you switch to JDBC as the database driver. Information on this can be found in the setup and administrator guides.

If you were using compiled FAPs, you will now have to switch to library management or continue with standard FAP files on disk. Note, as FAPs are loaded from disk, they will be parsed into the cache - much like a compiled FAP. Therefore, we do not expect performance to be affected in most cases.
