Configuring the Status of Email Addresses
This topic describes how to configure the status of email addresses.
You can configure the circumstances in which the status of a contact’s email address is set to Bad Address or Undeliverable in the EMAIL_STATUS_CD field. The email address for a contact is set to a status of Bad Address if the number of hard bounces logged for the address exceeds a defined threshold and is set to a status of Undeliverable if the number of soft bounces logged for the email address exceeds a defined threshold. To configure the value of this threshold, perform the steps in the following procedure.
To configure how the email address status is determined
Navigate to the Administration - Business Process screen, Workflow Policies, and then the Policies view.
In the Policies list, query for the Update Contact Email Status object in the Workflow Object field.
Select either the Update Contact Email Hard Bounce Status policy or the Update Contact Email Soft Bounce Status policy.
Navigate to the Conditions list, then enter a number in the Value field, for example, 10.
The number you enter becomes the threshold used to determine when a contact’s email address is assigned a status of Bad Address (hard bounces) or Undeliverable (soft bounces).
