Encrypting Trackable URLs and Response Forms for Email Marketing

As of Siebel CRM 21.5 Update, Siebel eMarketing allows administrators to encrypt trackable URLs and response forms (Subscribe and Unsubscribe forms).

Note: This feature requires that you have installed Siebel CRM 21.5 Update or later and that you run the RepositoryUpdate utility after installation. The Encryption user property is not available in prior releases. For full functionality, both Siebel EMS and Siebel CRM (Siebel eMarketing application) require installation to version 21.5 or later.

There are two scenarios for this feature:

• URLs in emails. URLs that are sent as a part of emails are encrypted by Email Sending Daemon (ESD) and will be decrypted by Click Through Daemon (CTD) when the URL is clicked. If you install Siebel EMS 21.5 or later, then URLs sent in the email are encrypted and decrypted.

• URLs in Siebel eMarketing offers. URLs that are seen on the eMarketing Offers screen are encrypted by Siebel CRM and decrypted by CTD when the URL is clicked. For the URLs in Siebel eMarketing to be encrypted and decrypted, both Siebel EMS and Siebel CRM must be updated to 21.5 or later, and the Siebel Repository must be updated.

  The behavior of this feature depends on the version of the installed software and the setting of the user property Encryption. To enable this feature for Siebel eMarketing, set this user property on the Web Offer business component to Y. By default, the value is set to N. When the value is N, the behavior is the same as it is in releases prior to Siebel CRM 21.5 Update.
