Configuring Client-Side Integration for Send Email Command
You can deploy the Send Email command to support three different email client options. Uers can use the Siebel native email client (the default), Microsoft Outlook (requires Desktop Integration Siebel Agent, or DISA), or another external email client to send outbound email messages. Users on UNIX client computers must use the native Siebel email client. For information about support for third-party software, see Supported Email Sender Software and Email Servers.
-
A Microsoft Outlook email integration using DISA uses email client software on each user’s client computer and does not use Siebel Communications Server components.
-
The native Siebel email client integrates with your email server by using Siebel Communications Server components and the Internet SMTP/IMAP Server or Internet SMTP/POP3 Server communications driver.
-
The external email client option uses a mailto link to start a message in the default email client on your local operating system.
You can configure your application so that all users use the same email client for the Send Email command. Alternatively, you can support multiple email clients, and let individual users specify their preferred email client. For information about using the Send Email command, see:

Email-related error messages that users receive use the language applicable to the source of the message. For example, an error message returned from a French version of Microsoft Outlook is in French.
Errors generated from the Siebel application might use the language and locale of the Siebel Server or use the language and locale the user specifies as a user preference or temporary setting for sending messages.
