Building Formulas

This topic includes instructions about building a formula.

To build a formula

1. Navigate to the Loyalty Promotions Administration screen, then the Formula view.

2. Click New to create a new record and complete the necessary fields.

   Some fields are described in the following table.

   Field	Description
   Name	Name of the formula
   Program Name	Program name with which to associate the formula
   Description	Brief description of the formula

3. Click the Name of the formula created in step 3.

4. In the Promotion Formula Builder, define the formula operators and attributes:

   1. Click New.

   2. Complete the necessary fields. Some fields are described in the following table.

      Field	Description
      Sequence	Sequence number of the row
      Operator	Mathematical operator
      Object	Select from Literal, Member, Member Tier, Promotion and Transaction
      Attribute	Attribute name
      Value	Numeric value for Literal-type objects

   3. Repeat step a and step b for each operator or attribute in the formula.

5. Ensure that the formula is a valid mathematical equation:

   1. If the Validate button is inactive (grayed out) and the Validation Status is Green (where the status bar appears in the color green), then skip to step 7.

   2. Click Validate.

      A information message appears indicating the likely cause of the invalid formula.

   3. Correct the issues specified in the information message.

   4. Repeat step b and step c until the Validate button is inactive (grayed out) and the Validation Status is Green (where the status bar appears in the color green).

6. Click Menu, and select Save Record.
