Mapping Federal Highway Purpose ID and Grant Number

This topic describes the how to map a federal highway Purpose ID to a Source Type, Category, or Subcategory, and how to map contract numbers, or project ID's to a grant number.

Setting Up the Federal Highway Mapping

To set up the Federal Highway mapping feature:

  1. Use the Billing - Federal Options Page to define federal highway options specific to Billing.

  2. Use the Map Federal Highway Purpose ID Page to map the Purpose ID to the Source Type, Category, or Subcategory selected on the Billing - Federal Options Page.

  3. Use the Map Federal Highway Grant Number Page to map one or more contract numbers or project ID's to one grant number.

Define the criteria used to derive the grant number.

Use the Map Federal Highway Purpose ID page (BI_FHWY_PURPOSE_PG) to map a federal highway Purpose ID to a Source Type, Category, or Subcategory.

Map Federal Highway Purpose ID

The Purpose ID is used to map the source, category, or sub-category to a Purpose ID so that the value populated on the federal highway bill matches the 10 character Purpose ID. If no mapping exists then the federal highway bill is populated with the five character Demo ID.

Field or Control

Description

Purpose ID

Enter up to 10 characters, which is used to populate the field on a federal highway bill.

Demo ID and Purpose ID

Displays the value selected on the Billing - Federal Options Page in the Federal Demo ID and Purpose ID group box.

Subcategory

Select a Subcategory to further define the value used on the federal highway bill.

Example of Using the Purpose ID

In the above example, the Purpose ID TLT0000001 is mapped to Subcategory DIR.

The Federal Highway bill is populated with the value of TLT0000001 as the Demo ID if these conditions exist:

Map Federal Highway Grant

When the FHWA Interface process is run the system uses the current date to determine the effective dated row to derive the grant number. The system accommodates multiple rows in the Federal Highway Parameters section to support many to 1 mapping for a grant number.

Field or Control

Description

Grant Number

This field requires 15 characters.

Contract Number or Project ID

Select one or more existing contract numbers or project ID's to map to one grant number.

The contract or project ID should be seven (7) characters.

Note: This field is determined by the option selected in the Federal Project Agreement section of the Billing - Federal Options Page.

Source Type

Select a value

This field is determined by the option selected in the Federal Appropriation Number section of the Billing - Federal Options Page.
