Change my password

Choose Edit, User Preferences.
Click the Password tab.
Click Password.
Type a new password.

The rules governing passwords depend on which type of database you are connected to and how certain settings are configured.

When P6 Professional is running in LDAP authentication mode:

Password management is handled through the directory server.
You cannot change your password through P6 Professional and the Password tab does not appear in the User Preferences dialog box.

When P6 Professional is connected to a Cloud Connect database:

Password management is handled through P6.
You cannot change your password through P6 Professional and the Password tab does not appear in the User Preferences dialog box.

When P6 Professional is connected to a Standalone or PPM database:

If Enable password policy is enabled in the Password Policy field of the Admin Preferences dialog box, you must enter a password that is between 8 and 20 alphanumeric characters and contains at least one number and one letter.
If Enable password policy is disabled, your password must be between 1 and 20 alphanumeric characters long.

When P6 Professional is connected to a P6 EPPM database:

When the Password Policy is enabled in Application Settings in P6, the password must be between 8 and 20 alphanumeric characters and contain at least one number and one letter.
When the Password Policy is disabled in Application Settings in P6, the password must be between 1 and 20 alphanumeric characters.
P6 does not allow blank passwords.
Passwords are case-sensitive.
Passwords that were set before the new password policy was enabled are valid and usable.
Passwords are required.
