How do I configure connection settings on my Android?

Once you have installed Oracle Social Network on your mobile device:

  1. On your Android device menu, tap the Accounts icon.

  2. To add a new account, tap the New Account icon.

  3. In the User Name field, enter your Oracle Social Network user name.

  4. In the Password field, enter your Oracle Social Network password.

  5. Select Save Password to make future connections automatically.

  6. In the Account Name field, enter the name you want to give to the new account.

  7. In the Host field, enter the path to the server that is hosting your Oracle Social Network instance.

    For example, enter:

    osn.mycompany.com/prod
    
  8. Tap Connect.

How do I edit an account?

  1. On your Android device menu, tap the Accounts icon.

  2. Select the account you want to edit, and tap Edit.

  3. Modify the current data.

  4. Tap Connect.

How do I remove an account?

  1. On your Android device menu, tap the Accounts icon.

  3. Confirm.

How do I switch from one account to another?

  1. On your Android device menu, tap the Accounts icon. Android settings icon

  2. Select the account you want to switch to.

How do I configure notifications on my Android?

  1. On your Android device menu.

  2. Tap Preferences, and select Notifications.

  3. Select Follow-Ups if you want to receive a notification every time you're assigned a follow-up.

  4. Select Your Wall, if you want to receive a notification every time a message is posted to your wall.

  5. Select Chats, if you want to receive a notification every time someone starts a chat with you.

How do I start a Conversation?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the Conversations icon.

  3. Enter a name for the new Conversation, and tap OK.

  4. The new Conversation appears in the conversations list. You can start posting messages or uploading documents.

How do I start a One-on-One Conversation?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the People icon.

  2. Select the person you want to start a One-on-One Conversation with to open his or her profile.

    If the person is not on your list of contacts:

    1. Tap the Add Contacts button.

    2. Enter the name, part of the name, or the email address of the person you want to chat with.

    3. In the results list, select the check box of the person you want to start a One-on-One Conversation with.

    4. Tap the Add button.

    5. Select the contact you just added.

  3. Tap the Start One-on-One button.

How do I add members to a Conversation?

  1. Go to the Conversation you want to add members to.

  2. Tap the Action menu, and select Members to open the Current Members list.

  3. On the filter bar, tap the More filter, and select Members to open the Conversation members list.

  4. Tap the Action menu, and select Add Members.

  5. Enter the name of the person to add, and select the check box on the right.

  6. Tap Add.

How do I edit Conversation Settings?

  1. Go to the Conversation you want to edit settings for.

  2. Tap the Action menu, and select Conversations Settings.

  3. If you want to change the name of the Conversation, modify the Name field.

  4. To make the conversation public, check the box on the right of Make Publicly Available.

  5. If you want to hide membership messages on the Conversation, check the box on the right of Hide Membership Messages.

  6. Tap Update.

How do I mute a Conversation?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the Conversations icon.

  2. Long press the Conversation you want to mute.

  3. Select Mute.

    The muted Conversation now appears under the Muted filter.

How do I unmute a Conversation?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the Conversations icon.

  3. Long press the Conversation you want to unmute.

  4. Select Unmute.

How do I post a new message?

  1. Go to the Conversation you want to post a new message to.

  2. Tap the Compose button.

  4. Tap OK.

    Note: To attach a file to your message, tap the Attach icon on the right upper corner, and select Upload File.

How do I comment on a message?

  1. Long press the message you want to comment on.

  2. Select Write Comment.

  3. Enter the message.

  4. Tap OK.

How do I mark all messages as read?

  1. Go to the Conversation where you want to mark all messages as read.

  2. Tap the Action menu, and select Mark All Read.

  3. Tap Yes on the confirmation message.

How do I like a message?

  1. Go to the Conversation where you want to like a message.

  2. Long press the message you want to like.

  3. Select Like.

    Note: On Android devices, you can like only messages. You cannot like other types of objects, such as Conversations or documents.

How can I see who has liked a message?

  1. Go to the Conversation that includes the message you want to check.

  2. Long press the message.

  3. Select View Likes.

How do I edit a message?

You can edit only the messages you posted.

  1. Long press the message you want to edit.

  2. Select Edit Message.

  3. Revise the message.

  4. Tap OK.

How do I upload a picture or video I took with my Android device?

  1. Go to the Conversation you want to upload a picture to.

  2. Tap the Write Message icon.

  3. Tap the Attach icon on the right upper corner, and select Take a Picture, Choose a Picture from Gallery, Choose Video from Gallery, or Upload File.

  4. Select the picture or video you want to upload.

  5. Tap OK.

How do I create a new folder?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the Conversations icon.

  2. Go to the Conversation where you want to create a new folder, and tap the Documents filter.

  3. On the Action menu, select New Folder.

  4. Enter the name for the new folder, and tap OK.

How do I view my collections?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the Collections icon.

    • Yours to show the collections you created

    • Favorites to show the collections you have marked as favorite

    • Available to show all the collections available to you

    • Muted to show the collections that have been muted

  3. Browse through collections.

How do I add a related Conversation to a collection?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the Collections icon.

  2. Select the collection where you want to add a conversation, tap the More filter and select Related Conversations.

  3. Tap the Action menu, and select Add Related Conversation.

  4. Select the conversation you want to add, and tap Yes to confirm.

How do I view a document?

You can view a document from the Conversation where it was posted or from the documents list. Either way, tap the document you want to view to open a preview of it.

How do I upload a document from a viewer application?

  1. Open the document in the application you want to upload from.

  2. On the application's sharing menu, select Oracle Social Network.

  3. Select the Conversation you want to upload the document to.

How do I download a document to my Android?

  1. Navigate to the document you want to download, and long press it.

  2. Tap Download.

  3. To find a downloaded document, while you're offline go to your device's File Manager and look in the following directory:

    /Downloads/OracleSocialNetwork/documents/<conversation.name>/
    

How do I view my contacts?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the People icon.

How do I add a new contact?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the People icon.

  3. Enter the name, part of the name, or the email address of the person to add.

  4. In the results list, select the check box of the person to add.

How do I save a contact to my Android device list of phone numbers?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the People icon.

  3. Tap the Add to Phone Contacts button at the bottom of the screen.

  4. Tap OK in the confirmation message.

How do I follow someone?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the People icon.

  3. Enter the name, part of the name, or the email address of the person to follow. On your results list, check the box on the right of the name of the person you want to add. Tap Add.

  4. Select the person to open his or her profile.

  5. Tap +Follow.

How can I post a status update to my wall?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the Post to Your Wall icon.

How can I post messages on another person's wall?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the People icon.

  3. Tap the More menu on the top tool bar, and select Wall.

How do I update my profile picture from my Android device?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the Your Wall icon.

  2. On the filter bar, select Profile.

  3. Tap the Action menu, and select Take Profile Picture or Select Profile Picture.

  4. Take a picture or select an existing one, and tap OK.

How do I view another person's profile?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the People icon.

How do I view my favorites?

On your dashboard, tap the Favorites icon.

How do I mark and unmark an item as a favorite?

  1. Long press the item you want to mark or unmark as a favorite.

  2. Select either Add Favorite or Clear Favorite.

How do I assign a follow-up?

  1. Go to the Conversation where you want to assign a follow-up.

  2. Long press the message you want to flag, and tap Add Follow-Up.

  3. Select the person you want to flag, and tap OK.

Note: To receive a notification when the follow-up is cleared, check the box Flag me when cleared.

How do I view my follow-ups?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the Follow-Ups icon.

How do I create a new group?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the Groups icon.

  2. On the upper right corner, tap the Action menu.

  3. Select New Group.

    • In the Name field, enter the name of the new group.

    • In the Description field, enter a description of the group.

  4. Tap Update.

How do I add new members to a group?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the Groups icon. Android groups icon

  2. On the filter bar, select Members.

  3. Tap the Action menu, and select Add Members. Enter the name, part of the name, or the email address of the person you want to add.

  4. Select the person you want to add.

  5. Tap Add.

    Note: Only people with Oracle Social Network login credentials can be added to a group.

How do I edit a group?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the Groups icon. Android groups icon

  2. Select the group you want to edit.

  3. Tap the Action menu, and select Group Settings.

  4. Modify the current data, and select Update.

How do I view my Customers?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the Customers icon.

    • Yours to show the customers you created

    • Favorites to show the customers you have marked as favorite

    • Available to show all the customers available to you

    • Muted to show the customers that have been muted

  3. Browse through your customers.

How do I view my Opportunities?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the Opportunities icon.

How do I search for something?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the Global Search icon.

  3. Browse through the items shown, or refine your search to narrow the results.

Which features are not available on my Android device?

The following Oracle Social Network features are not available for Android devices:

  • Gadgets

  • Conversation discard

  2. Tap the arrow next to the account you want to edit.

  3. Modify the current data.

  4. Tap Connect.

To remove an account:

  1. Go to your settings menu.

  2. Tap the arrow next to the account you want to remove.

  3. Tap Delete.

Note: To remove an account, you must not be connected to it.

How do I switch from one account to another?

  1. Go to your settings menu.

How do I configure notifications on my iPhone?

  1. Go to your settings menu.

How do I edit Conversation settings?

  1. Go to the Conversation you want to edit settings for.

  2. Tap the Action button, and select Settings.

  4. Tap the Visibility field to modify the privacy of the Conversation.

  5. Tap the Status field to change the current status of the Conversation.

  6. Tap the Membership Messages field to show or hide membership messages.

How do I mute a Conversation?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the Conversations icon.

  2. Long press the Conversation you want to mute, and select Mute.

    The muted conversation appears under the Muted filter.

How do I unmute a Conversation?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the Conversations icon.

  2. On the filter bar, select Muted.

  3. Long press the Conversation you want to unmute, and select Unmute.

How do I post a new message?

  1. Go to the Conversation you want to post a message to.

How do I comment on a message?

  1. Long press the message you want to comment on.

  2. Select Add a Comment.

How do I mark all messages as read?

  2. On the right low corner, tap the Mark All Read button that shows the number of unread messages you have.

  3. Select Mark All Read.

How do I like a message?

  1. Go to the Conversation where you want to like a message.

  2. Long press the message you want to like.

  3. Select Like.

How can I see who has liked a message?

  1. Go to the Conversation that includes the message you want to check.

  2. Long press the message.

  3. Select View Likes.

How do I view my collections?

How do I mute a collection?

How do I view a document?

You can view a document from the Conversation where it was posted or from the documents list. Either way, tap the document you want to view to open a preview of it.

Note: Alternatively, long press any document thumbnail and tap View in Native Viewer from the menu.

How do I upload a document from a viewer application?

  1. Open the document in the application you want to upload from.

  2. On the application's menu, select Open in 'Social'.

  3. In Oracle Social Network, select the Conversation to upload the document to.

How do I view a document while offline?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the Documents icon.

  2. Long tap the document you want to open, to open the Documents dialog.

  3. Select View in Native Viewer.

    The document opens in the application most suitable to the document type.

  4. Tap the application's Action button, and select the application to use to save your document.

How do I view my contacts?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the People icon.

How do I add a new contact?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the People icon.

How do I save a contact to my iPhone contacts list?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the People icon.

  3. Tap Add to iPhone Contacts.

  4. Choose one of the following options: Create New Contact or Add to Existing Contact, and tap Done.

  5. In the confirmation message, tap Done.

How do I follow someone?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the People icon.

  4. In the results list, select the check box of the person you want to follow.

  5. Tap the Add button.

  6. Select the contact you just added, and tap +Follow.

Note: Alternatively, on People tap the Recommendations filter. Tap the name of the person you want to follow to open his or her profile. Tap +Follow to add your selection to your contacts list.

How do I view another person's profile?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the People icon.

How can I post a status update to my wall?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the Compose button.

How do I view my favorites?

On your dashboard, tap the Favorites icon, and select from the available filters: All, Conversations, Collections, Customers, Opportunities, Messages, Documents, Folders or Groups to browse your favorites.

How do I mark a Conversation as a favorite?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the Conversations icon.

How do I mark a document as favorite?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the Documents icon.

    Note: Alternatively, go to the document you want to mark as a favorite, tap the Action button, and select Add to Favorites.

How do I unmark an item as a favorite?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the Favorites icon.

How do I assign a follow-up?

  1. Go to the Conversation where you want to assign a follow-up.

  2. Long press the message you want to flag, and tap Manage Follow-Ups.

  3. Select members to flag, or select Flag All to assign a follow-up to all the members of the Conversation.

  4. Tap Apply.

How do I view my follow-ups?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the Follow-Ups icon.

How do I create a new group?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the Groups icon.

  6. To add members to the group, tap Yes in the confirmation message.

  7. Tap Search for People.

    Note: To add members from a specific group, select Select Groups.

  8. Enter the name, part of the name, or the email address of the person you want to add, and tap Search.

  9. Select the person you want to add, and tap Add.

How do I add new members to a group?

  2. Go to the group you want to add members to.

  3. Tap the Add button.

  4. To add a person, tap Search for People.

    Note: To add members from a specific group, select Select Groups.

  5. Enter the name, part of the name, or the email address of the person you want to add, and tap Search.

How do I search for something?

  1. On your dashboard, tap the Search bar.

  2. Enter your search terms.

  3. To refine your search using a filter, tap the filter button and select a filter.

  4. Tap Search.

Which features are not available on my iPhone?

How do I start a One-on-One Conversation?

  1. On your sidebar, tap the People icon.

    • Recommendations

    • People You Follow

    • Your Followers

    • Contacts

  3. Select the person you want to start a One-on-One Conversation with to open his or her profile.

    If the person is not on your list of contacts:

    1. On your Dashboard, go to Search.

    2. Enter the name, part of the name, or the email address of the person you want to start a One-on-One Conversation with.

    3. Tap the name of the person you want to start a One-on-One Conversation with.

  4. Tap the Start One-on-One button.

How do I add members to a Conversation?

  1. On your sidebar, tap the Conversations icon.

  2. Go to the Conversation you want to add a member to.

  3. In the upper right corner of the Conversation pane, tap the Add button.

  4. In the Add Members dialog, tap Search for People and enter the name, part of the name, or the email address of the person you want to add.

  5. Select a name, and tap Add to add your selection to the Conversation

    Note: Alternatively, in the Add Members dialog, you can choose Select Groups to add all the members of a group.

  6. When you're done, tap outside the dialog box to close it.

How do I edit Conversation settings?

  1. Go to the Conversation with settings you want to edit.

  2. Tap the Action button, and select Settings.

  4. Tap the Visibility field to modify the privacy of the Conversation.

  5. Tap the Status field to change the current status of the Conversation.

How do I view a document?

You can view a document from the Conversation where it was posted or from the documents list. Either way, tap the document you want to view to open a preview of it.

Note: Alternatively, long press any document thumbnail, and tap View in Native Viewer.

How do I upload a document from a viewer application?

  1. Open the document in the viewer application.

  2. On the application's menu, select Open in 'Social Network'.

  3. In Oracle Social Network, select the Conversation to upload the document to.

How do I view a document while offline?

  1. On your sidebar, tap the Documents icon.

  1. Open the document you want to annotate.

  2. On the upper bar, tap the Annotations button.

    • Select the Highlighter tool and highlight content. Tap the Compose button to add a comment, or tap Delete to discard the highlight.

    • Select the Pushpin tool, tap the place you want the annotation to appear to open a text box. Enter a comment, and tap Save.

    • Select the Ellipse tool and draw an ellipse over content. A text box opens. Enter a comment, and tap Save.

    • Select the Rectangle tool and draw a rectangle over content. A text box opens. Enter a comment, and tap Save.

    • Select the Pen tool and write or draw something over content. Tap the Compose button to add a comment, or tap Delete to discard the drawing.

  4. Add one or more annotations, and tap Publish to add them to the document and the Conversation.

How do I view annotations?

  1. Open the annotated document.

  2. Tap highlighted text or a pushpin to open the annotation.

  3. Tap Close to exit the annotation.

Note: To add a comment to an annotation, enter your message in the text box and press Submit.

How do I view my Customers?

On your sidebar, tap the Customers icon, and select from the available filters— Yours, Available, Favorites, or Muted—to browse your customers.

How do I view my Opportunities?

On your sidebar, tap the Opportunities icon, and select from the available filters— Yours, Available, Favorites, or Muted—to browse your opportunities.

How do I search for something?

  1. On your sidebar, tap the Search icon.

Which Oracle Social Network features are not available on my iPad?
