Kontrollfilen är en liten HTML-sida som dynamiskt initierar återgivningssekvensen för återstoden av sidan. Den är den första plats där anpassningar kan tillämpas för att påverka beteendet hos varje sida på en webbplats.
Kontrollfilens huvudsakliga uppgift är att tillhandahålla och vara värd för en exekveringsmiljö för styrenhetens JavaScript. Styrenhetens JavaScript laddar och visar sedan sidan. Anpassningar i kontrollfilen gör det möjligt att ersätta och påverka funktionen hos styrenhetens JavaScript.
När en webbplats först skapas med Oracle Content Management associeras en standardkontrollfil, controller.html, med webbplatsen.
