Setting the Maintenance Start Time for an Environment

Maintenance start time is set separately for the test and production environments. To set the maintenance start time:
  1. Access an environment. See Accessing Cloud EPM and Cloud EDM Environments. You can sign in as a Service Administrator, or as a user with Migrations - Administer granular role.
  2. Click Tools and then Daily Maintenance.

    Narrative Reporting only: Click Daily Maintenance.

  3. Select the time zone of your choice.
  4. In Start Time, select the time when the maintenance process should start.

    The maintenance of the environment need not start at the top of the hour. You can set the hour and the minute for the daily maintenance start time. For example, you can set Start Time to 2:24 pm UTC (14.24 on a 24-hour clock). By distributing the daily maintenance start time throughout the hour, you help reduce the daily maintenance load on the infrastructure.

  5. Click Apply.

Considerations for Setting the Daily Maintenance Start Time

Keep the following considerations in mind when configuring the daily maintenance start time:

  • Changes made close to the current time: If you change the daily maintenance start time to a time that is within 30 minutes of the current time, the change does not take effect until the next day's maintenance cycle. If you change the start time to more than 30 minutes after the current time, the new start time takes effect on the same day.
  • Daylight Saving Time (DST) considerations: If you configure the daily maintenance start time using a non-UTC time zone that observes Daylight Saving Time (DST), the maintenance window may be skipped or occur twice on the day of the DST transition.
    • Spring transition (clock moves forward): If the configured maintenance time falls within the skipped hour, the maintenance does not run on that day. For example, if the maintenance start time is set to 2:15 AM Eastern Time, the maintenance does not occur on the spring DST transition day because 2:15 AM does not exist.
    • Fall transition (clock moves back): If the configured maintenance time falls within the repeated hour, the maintenance runs twice. For example, if the maintenance start time is set to 1:30 AM Pacific Time, the maintenance occurs twice on the fall DST transition day because 1:30 AM occurs twice.

    Note:

    To avoid these situations, Oracle recommends configuring the daily maintenance start time in UTC or in a time zone that does not observe DST. Alternatively, choose a maintenance time outside the 1:00 AM to 3:00 AM local time window, which is the period affected by DST transitions.
