Configure diagnostic monitors in a diagnostic system module

Before you begin

To configure a diagnostic monitor:

  1. If you have not already done so, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Lock & Edit (see Use the Change Center).
  2. In the Administration Console, expand Diagnostics and select Diagnostic Modules.
  3. On the Summary of Diagnostic Modules page, click the name of the module for which you want to configure diagnostic monitors.
  4. On the Settings for [Module Name] page, select Configuration > Instrumentation.
  5. Under Diagnostic Monitors in this Module, click the name of the diagnostic monitor you want to configure.
  6. On the Settings for [Diagnostic Monitor Name] page:
    1. Add a description in the Description field, if desired.
    2. To enable or disable the monitor, select or deselect Enabled.

      Note: Instrumentation for the current diagnostic system module must also be enabled for individual monitors to be enabled. See Enable or disable instrumentation in a diagnostic system module.

    3. If you are editing a delegating monitor and you want to add actions, click on the desired actions in the Actions list and move them to the Chosen list.

      Note: You can only add actions to delegating monitors. You cannot add actions to standard monitors, because standard monitors are defined with actions associated with them.

    4. If you are editing a DyeInjection monitor, add name/value pairs in the Properties field, to specify values for the dyes. For example:
      ADDR1=127.0.0.1
      USER1=admin@avitek.com
      For more information about DyeInjection monitors, including a list of the available dyes, see (See "Configuring the DyeInjection Monitor to Manage Diagnostic Contexts" in Configuring and Using the Diagnostics Framework for Oracle WebLogic Server.)
    5. If you are editing a monitor other than a DyeInjection monitor and you want to add dye filtering to the monitor, click EnableDy Filtering to enable it.

      Note: You cannot add dye filtering to DyeInjection monitors.

    6. If you enabled dye filtering in the previous step, in the Dye Mask section, click the desired dye masks in the Available table and move them to the Chosen table.
    7. Click Save.
  7. To add the newly configured diagnostic monitor, click the check box for the monitor and click Add.
  8. Click Save.
  9. To activate these changes, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Activate Changes.
    Not all changes take effect immediately—some require a restart (see Use the Change Center).
