The following topics introduce the new and changed features of Oracle Infrastructure web services and other significant changes that are described in this guide, and provides pointers to additional information. This document is the new edition of the formerly titled Developer's Guide for Oracle Fusion Middleware.
Minor updates, such as fixes or corrections, were made to this document.
Oracle Fusion Middleware Release 12c (12.1.3) includes the following new and changed features for this document.
Updated "About Attaching Policies to Asynchronous Web Services and Clients" to include the following note:
Note:
Web services reliable messaging (WS-ReliableMessaging) is not supported for Oracle Infrastructure asynchronous web services. That is, you cannot attach a reliable messaging policy at design time, using the@ReliabilityPolicy
annotation, or runtime, using Fusion Middleware Control or WLST, to the asynchronous web service or the callback client.Oracle Fusion Middleware Release 12c (12.1.2) includes the following new and changed features for this document.
New annotations for attaching policies programmatically to asynchronous callback services. See About Attaching Policies to Asynchronous Callback Services.
New predefined reliable messaging policies. See About the Predefined Reliable Messaging Policies.
New predefined atomic transaction policies. See Chapter 6, "Introduction to Using Web Services Atomic Transactions."
Fast Infoset, a compressed binary encoding format that provides a more efficient serialization than the text-based XML format. Fast Infoset optimizes both document size and processing performance. See Chapter 7, "Introduction to Optimizing XML Transmission Using Fast Infoset."
New standalone web service client JAR files that support basic Oracle Infrastructure web service client-side functionality and Oracle Web Services Manager (OWSM) security policy support. See Chapter 10, "Invoking a Web Service from a Standalone Client."
New Web Services Test Client for testing web services. See Chapter 11, "About Testing Web Services."
For Release 12c (12.1.2), this guide has been updated as follows:
The "Annotation Reference" chapter has been removed. This content was redundant with the Java API Reference for Oracle Infrastructure Web Services javadoc and the "Security and Policy Annotation Reference" in Securing Web Services and Managing Policies with Oracle Web Services Manager.
