Resetting hard bouncebacks in bulk

When a Oracle Eloqua receives a hard bounceback, the contact's email address is marked as invalid and you can no longer send emails to the contact. If a group of contacts were incorrectly flagged as a hard bounceback, you can reset the status using a contact list.

Warning: Be sure to verify that an email address is valid before resetting the bounceback status. Continuing to send emails to hard bouncebacks can impact your sender reputation and overall deliverability. Changing the bounceback should always be done with caution.

To reset the hard bounceback status in bulk:

  1. Create the shared contact list that includes the contacts that you want to reset. Only those contacts with a hard bounceback status will be reset.
  2. With the shared list open, click Actions An image of the Actions button, then click Reset Contact Bounceback Status.

After the reset completes, Oracle Eloqua sends you an email confirming that the reset is completed. This email also includes the bounceback reset details (contact list name, total updates).
