Publishing audiences

Publishing an audience makes it available for analysis and for publishing to other systems, such as Responsys. This topic provides the steps for publishing an audience locally in CX Audience and for publishing to other systems (either to Oracle Responsys or to an SFTP server).

Publishing audiences locally

Publishing an audience locally means that it is published within CX Audience.

By default, each account may have up to 10 locally published audiences. You can request to change the default values by creating a MOS Service Request at https://support.oracle.com.

Note: Approval is not automatic, we will need to carefully review your request to validate a business need in order to approve it.

To publish an audience:

  1. On the Design tab, click Publish.
  2. Click Yes in the confirmation message.

Publishing an audience automatically validates it. If validation produces any errors, you must fix the errors and re-validate the audience. Errors are displayed in the Validate section.

After publishing an audience:

  • Click the Analyze tab to run the audience and review the number of customers for each filter and the audience as a whole.
  • Click the Segmentation tab to create audience segmentation by sorting your audiences into smaller, more targeted groups.
  • If you need to update the audience, click the Design tab, make the necessary changes, and re-publish the audience.
  • When you are satisfied with the configuration of the audience, you can publish it externally to use it in other marketing systems, such as Oracle Responsys.

You can unpublish an audience manually or automatically after a specified period of time. When you unpublish an audience, all counts on the Analyze tab are cleared.

To unpublish an audience manually:

  1. On the Analyze tab, click Unpublish.
  2. In the dialog that opens, select the version you want to keep and click OK.
  3. Click Yes in the confirmation message.

To unpublish an audience automatically:

  1. On the Design tab, click Settings.
  2. Expand Options and select the auto unpublish option you want.

Publishing to other systems

You can publish your audience to either an SFTP site or to Responsys if the integration is configured for it.

To publish to an SFTP site:

Follow the steps in the Creating export jobs topic. On the Source page, the audience and List are already completed, based on the audience you selected. Optionally, select a publish template from List of fields to publish. If you do not select a publish template, only the RIID will be included.

To publish to Responsys:

  1. On the Source and Target page, the source list and audience are already selected. Optionally, you can select a publish template from List of fields to publish. If you do not select a publish template, only the RIID will be included. Select the Responsys list to publish to, and then click Next.
  2. On the Notification page, choose whether a notification should be sent on success or failure, and enter the email address(es) to receive the notification. Click Next.
  3. On the Schedule page, choose whether Publish to Responsys should run once, or if it should be a recurring task. Depending on your choice, specify the date, time, and intervals. You can publish an audience to Responsys up to three times per day (by default). Use the "Hourly" option to set the frequency and start time. The system calculates subsequent start times based on your selected start time and frequency.
  4. Click Export. Publish to Responsys will run on the date, time (determined by the system based on the actual time entered), and intervals.
