Set Up

The Set Up tab is where you'll create your Platforms and Audiences, as well as view your registered Categories and API authentication credentials.

"PushIO Web Dashboard Set Up tab"

Push IO offers support for popular operating system platforms, including iOS, Windows, and Android.

Once a platform has been created, a platform-specific API key is generated for targeting unique operating systems via API.

Likewise, an option to "Edit" these platforms becomes available when you need to upload a .PEM permissions file (iOS/OSX), Google Cloud Messaging credentials (Android), and other necessary files.

The platforms also provide links to pushio_config.json files that need to be packaged with your app(s) in order to receive push notifications.

Audiences & Categories:

Our Audience tool is a powerful way to create unique groups and segmentations that you can push to:

It supports multiple platforms, as well as typical query logic (AND, OR, NOT) that can be used with categories, metadata, and location. Once an Audience has been created, it will be available for pushing on the Push tab and through API.

Categories help to define your users’ unique interests. Only categories that have registered users show up on the categories page.

The API section contains important authentication credentials for sending push notifications from your backend servers. Our API is based on RESTful architecture.

The APP ID and Sender Secret are important for targeting your application(s) and are used in the first half (URL) portion of a cURL command:

curl "" -d 'payload={"message":"Test"}&audience=broadcast'

More information on our APIs can be found in the Server API tab of the documentation.
