Redeploying Essbase (ASO) and Essbase (BSO) Applications

Before you begin, be sure to review the guidelines listed in Deploying Essbase (ASO) and Essbase (BSO) Applications.

Note:

For information on deploying business rules, see the Oracle Hyperion Calculation Manager Designer’s Guide.

To redeploy an Essbase (ASO) or Essbase (BSO) application:

  1. Follow the procedure in Deploying Essbase (ASO) and Essbase (BSO) Applications, step 1 through step 5.

    Note:

When you redeploy an application, if Performance Management Architect cannot find the application server previously specified, you can select a different application server.

  2. Select the Clear Data check box, according to your requirements.

    Note:

The Full Deploy check box is selected by default and cannot be cleared. Performance Management Architect exports complete metadata during a full deploy.

Table 17. Result of Selecting and Clearing the Clear Data Check Box with the Full Deploy Check Box Selected

“Full Deploy” Check Box State “Clear Data” Check Box State Result
Selected Selected Essbase Studio will delete all outline members, then add all members to the outline. Outline restructure will clear all data.
Selected Deselected Essbase Studio will delete all outline members, then add all members to the outline. Outline restructure will keep data.
Selected Selected Essbase Studio will add outline members without deleting existing members. Outline restructure will clear all data.
Selected Deselected Oracle Essbase Studio will add outline members without deleting existing members. Outline restructure will keep data.
  3. Click Deploy.

    Note:

If a deployment is interrupted or deleted, the status may show “deploy pending” and the deployment may time out. The default time out is 480 minutes (8 hours). You can change the default in awbconfig.properties. If a deployment times out, you should deploy the application again. Even though the status may indicate that it is in sync with deployment; it may not be because of the time out.

  4. View and edit the deployed application outline in Essbase Administration Services Console; query the application database using either Oracle Smart View for Office or Oracle Essbase Spreadsheet Add-in.
