Selecting the Application Type

The following steps describe creating Consolidation and Tax Provisioning applications.

  To create Consolidation applications:

  1. Select File, then New, and then Application.

  2. Enter the application name.

Application names must not contain any special characters or spaces and cannot begin with HFM, HSV, HSX, or a number. Application names must be no more than 10 characters in length. If the application name contains non-ASCI characters and is between 6 and 10 characters in length, an error will occur when the application is deployed.

  3. For Application Type, select one of these options:

    • Standard Consolidation, if you want to create a standard consolidation application

    • Tax Provisioning, if you want to create an application specifically for tax provisioning. Tax provisioning applications enable you to collect, calculate, and report on corporate tax provisions under both US GAAP and IFRS.

      Note:

You can create and validate a tax provisioning application in Performance Management Architect and deploy it to Financial Management. You can open and work with tax provisioning applications in a future release of Financial Management.

  4. Enter a description.

Descriptions may contain special characters, and more than 256 characters.

  5. Optional: If you are creating a standard consolidation application, select Create Blank Application to create an empty application and use the Dimension Library to drag dimensions into the application. See Manually Adding Dimensions.

    Note:

If you are creating a tax provisioning application, you cannot create a blank application.

  6. Optional: Select Auto Create Local Dimensions.

Selecting Auto Create Local Dimensions automatically creates new dimensions for all dimensions that are required in the application. The dimension name for each new dimension is identical to the dimension type with (New) in parentheses. Automatically creating local dimensions helps save time since it populates the required dimensions necessary to create the application.

  7. Perform one of these actions:

    • If using the application wizard, click Next.

The Dimension Selection screen is displayed. See Selecting Dimensions.

    • If creating the application manually, click Finish.

      Note:

If you are creating a tax provisioning application, the Finish button is disabled. Click Next to populate dimensions with metadata. Then you can validate the application, and make any required changes, or click Finish.

The Dimension Library is displayed. See Manually Adding Dimensions.
