This graphic shows where Services Gatekeeper generates EDRs by default. For mobile-terminated request message enters the access tier (AT) and generates the first EDR. As the message passed to the NT it enters the plugin north which generates the second EDR. The request message then passes through the action chain and generates a third EDR as it enters the plugin south. The message is then processed by the network and returns as a response message. As the response message enters the NT from the network it generates EDR number four as it exits the plugin south. It then goes through action chain processing and enters the plugin north. As it exits the plugin north, Services Gatekeeper generates EDR number 5. The response message then leave the NT and enters the AT, where EDR number 6 is generated.

Mobile-originated request messages enter Services Gatekeeper (the NT) from the south run through the same steps as the mobile-originated response messages as the pass through Services Gatekeeper. They then turn into response messages and come back through the AT and NT as the mobile-originated request messages.
