Oracle® Communications IP Service Activator

Release Notes

Release 7.4

E88211-01

December 2017

This document provides release notes for Oracle Communications IP Service Activator release 7.4 and includes the following:

New Features

The new features in this release of IP Service Activator are:

Cisco iOS L2 MPLS VPN Cartridge

IP Service Activator includes a comprehensive L2 MPLS VPN cartridge for Cisco devices running on iOS. IP Service Activator now supports Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS) (LDP and BGP-based) and point-to-point Virtual Leased Line (VLL) on Cisco devices running iOS.

YANG Device Configuration Model On-Boarding for Service Configuration Control

IP Service Activator includes a YANG import tool that enables you to import configuration policies that use a device-specific YANG model. The IP Service Activator YANG import tool parses the YANG model and requires no coding in IP Service Activator.

Register NFV Orchestration VNFs with IP Service Activator

IP Service Activator includes a VNF interfacing capability that enables you to manage Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) lifecycles.

IP Service Activator provides a RESTful API for registering a newly instantiated VNF and unregistering a terminated VNF. This API is called by Oracle Communications NFV Orchestration for registering and unregistering VNFs with IP Service Activator.

Configuration Management Integrated into IP Service Activator

Configuration Management is now integrated into IP Service Activator. All the key functionalities of Configuration Management are now part of IP Service Activator, which provides unified operations and views. This integration enables service providers to control and protect their core and edge IP/Ethernet network configurations through IP Service Activator.

RESTful API to Provision Customer-Defined Services

IP Service Activator provides a RESTful API that enables you to provision customer-defined services. This RESTful API combines a REST architecture with JMS notifications to integrate IP Service Activator with Oracle Communications Order and Service Management (OSM) (or any third-party software solution) and to enable OSM to manage service activation transactions. See IP Activator API Developer's Guide for more information.

Updated Version of CORBA omniORB

IP Service Activator 7.4 requires omniORB 4.2.1 on Solaris, Linux, and Windows platforms to provide CORBA ORB services.

Platform Upgrade

IP Service Activator 7.4 supports the following Oracle Fusion Middleware and Oracle Database software versions:

  • Oracle Fusion Middleware 12c (12.2.1.3.0)

  • Oracle Database Enterprise Edition 12c Release 2 (12.2)

Fixes in This Release

IP Service Activator 7.4 include all fixes up to and including release 7.3.4.5.0 and 7.3.0.1.6.
