5.7 Managing Bugs

Bugs track software defects. Bugs can be assigned, associated with milestones, and tracked by due date, status, and other attributes.

5.7.1 Viewing Bugs

To view bugs:

  1. On the Workspace home page, click the Team Development icon.

  2. Click the Bugs icon.

    The Bugs Dashboard appears. The Bugs Dashboard displays an overview of known software defects.

  3. Click the Report tab.

    The Bugs Report page displays an interactive report of all bugs. You can customize the appearance of the page using the Search bar at the top of the page. To edit a bug, click the Edit icon.

5.7.2 Creating a Bug

To create a bug:

  1. On the Workspace home page, click the Team Development icon.

  2. Click the Bugs icon.

    The Bugs Dashboard appears.

  3. Click Create Bug.

  4. Fill in the appropriate fields. Mandatory fields are marked with a red asterisk (*).

    To learn more about an attribute, see field-level Help. See "Viewing Field-Level Help."

  5. To add new values to editable select lists, enter a value in the field with the title New. For example, to add a name to the Assigned To list, enter a value in New Assignee.

    The value you enter is added.

  6. Click Create Bug.

5.7.3 Editing a Bug

To edit a bug:

  1. On the Workspace home page, click the Team Development icon.

  2. Click the Bugs icon.

    The Bugs Dashboard appears.

  3. Click the Report tab.

    The Bugs Report page appears.

  4. Select a bug.

  5. Edit the appropriate fields.

  6. Click Apply Changes.

5.7.4 How to Attach Files to a Bug

If enabled at the workspace-level, you can attach files to a bug.

5.7.4.1 Attaching a File to a Bug

Tip:

To use this feature, you must set the Enable File Repository attribute to Yes in Administration, Manage Service, Set Workspace Preferences.

To attach a file to a bug:

  1. Navigate to the bug. See "Editing a Bug."

  2. From Actions, click Add File.

  3. On Add File:

    1. File - Locate the file to be uploaded.

    2. Description - Enter a description of the file.

    3. Click Add File.

    A new region, called Files, displays at the bottom of the page.

5.7.4.2 Viewing, Editing, and Removing Attached Files

To manage attached files:

  1. Navigate to the Bug page. See "Editing a Bug."

  2. Scroll down to Files.

  3. Click View and Manage Files.

    The Files page appears.

  4. To view a file, click the name.

  5. To edit the file description, click the Edit icon.

  6. To delete an attached file, click the Delete icon.

5.7.5 Viewing Other Bug Reports

This section describes bug reports available in Team Development.

5.7.5.1 Bugs Dashboard

The Bugs Dashboard displays an overview of known software defects. The Dashboard page contains the following regions:

  • Percent Closed

  • Assigned Developer

  • Severity

  • Status

To edit the dashboard, edit the Show and Release lists at the top of the page and click Set. To reset the dashboard to the default display, click the Reset button.

5.7.5.2 Viewing the Bug Calendar

To view the Bug Calendar:

  1. On the Workspace home page, click the Team Development icon.

  2. Click the Bugs icon.

    The Bugs Dashboard appears.

  3. Click the Calendar tab.

    Use the Show list on the Calendar page to display open bugs with an estimated close date, open bugs with no estimated close date, or closed bugs. Click the Previous and Next buttons to view other months. To view a specific bug, click the bug description. To create a new bug, click Create Bug.

5.7.5.3 Viewing the Bugs By Developer

To view the Bugs By Developer:

  1. On the Workspace home page, click the Team Development icon.

  2. Click the Bugs icon.

    The Bugs Dashboard appears.

  3. Click the By Developer tab.

    The By Developer page displays bugs by developer. To view bugs associated with a specific assignee, click the appropriate section of the chart. A report appears displaying bugs by developer.

    To alter the chart, select another release and click Set. To return to the default chart, click Reset. To create a new bug, click Create Bug.

5.7.5.4 Viewing the Bugs By Day

To view the Bugs By Day:

  1. On the Workspace home page, click the Team Development icon.

  2. Click the Bugs icon.

    The Bugs Dashboard appears.

  3. Click the By Day tab.

    The By Day page displays number of bugs opened and closed by day. To alter the chart, select another release and click Set. To return to the default bar chart, click Reset. To create a new bug, click Create Bug.
