Conventions

The following text conventions are used in this manual:

Convention Meaning

bold

Boldface type indicates graphical user interface elements associated with an action, or terms defined in text or the glossary

italics

Italic type indicates book titles, emphasis, or placeholder variables for which you supply particular values.

monospace

Monospace type indicates commands within a paragraph, URLs, code in examples, text that appears on the screen, or text that you enter, directory names, user names, pathnames, and filenames.

UPPERCASE

Uppercase letters indicate Structured Query Language (SQL) reservedwords, initialization parameters, and environment variables.

Brackets are used in syntax statements for optional elements.

[text|text]

Vertical bar inside brackets is used in syntax statements to imply choice among optional elements.

{text|text}

Vertical bar inside braces is used in syntax statements to imply choice among mandatory elements.
