This graphic shows the structure of a grid. At the top are the client applications. They interface with the grid through an external network. There are three hosts that have data instances installed on them. The client applications connect to the data instances on these hosts through the external network.

There are two management instances installed on two separate hosts. The instance administrator connects directly to one of the management instances to execute commands that manage the grid.

There are three hosts installed with ZooKeeper membership services. Each host acts as a ZooKeeper membership server.

All of the data instances, management instances and ZooKeeper membership servers communicate over an internal network.
