Viewing Usage Metrics for Network
Get usage metrics for network data.
The OCI Control Center provides a comprehensive insight on capacity and utilization of Network alongside Compute, Storage, and Exadata. By viewing the metrics, you can make data-driven decisions for network capacity expansions especially for network circuits. The data is available with 5 minute granularity refreshed every hour with six hour maximum delay and historical data is retained for three months. This feature is beneficial for understanding network performance, identifying bottlenecks, and planning for future growth.

Open the navigation menu, from the left pane, select Governance & Administration, Control Center and then Network.
-
The Region Details for Network consists of the following tabs:
- IP Transit
- Backbone
IP Transit
- The IP Transit tab on the Region Details for Network page, displays the following internet capacity and usage details in a graphical format:Note
If the Region Details for Network page doesn't display any information, select a different compartment from the Compartment list (on the left side of the page).- Aggregate Internet Capacity: Displays the total internet capacity (for example 80 Gbps) over time.
- Aggregate Transit Traffic Rate: In: Displays bandwidth usage of inbound traffic over time.
- Aggregate Transit Traffic Rate: Out: Displays bandwidth usage of outbound traffic over time.
- Aggregate Internet Utilization: Ingress: Displays inbound traffic in percentage over time, for example inbound traffic at 60%.
- Aggregate Internet Utilization: Egress: Displays outbound traffic in percentage over time, for example outbound traffic at 40%.
- Use the following filters to refine and limit the display of the graph data:
- Select Providers View: Select provider view type for IP Transit Network. Currently, there are two options - Based on Provider and Based on Link Role.
- Filter by Circuit Provider: Select a specific network provider or providers for IP transit network.
- Select time frame: Select 1 day or 7 days (for example., last 7 days to analyze the weekly trends).
- Select Export to export the chart data and internet usage consumption from the Console into an Excel, CSV, or PPTX format.
- In the Export dialog window, select the graph name from the list of options and then click Confirm.
Backbone
- The Backbone tab on the Region Details for Network page, displays the infrastructure usage of network connecting regions in realm:Note
If the Region Details for Network page doesn't display any information, select a different compartment from the Compartment list (on the left side of the page).- Region to Backbone Capacity : Displays the backbone capacity of the selected region (For example, US-ASHBURN-1).
- Backbone Capacity: Displays the backbone capacity between regions.
- Backbone traffic Rate: Ingress: Displays infrastructure usage for inbound traffic between regions.
- Backbone traffic Rate: Egress: Displays infrastructure usage for outbound traffic between regions.
- Backbone Utilization: Ingress: Displays the inbound traffic in percentage between regions.
- Backbone Utilization: Egress: Displays the outbound traffic in percentage between regions.
- Use the following filters to refine the data and limit the display of the graph data:
- Select Backbone View: Select building or a region with many buildings to view its backbone traffic.
- Filter by Region: Select a specific region or regions to view the backbone capacity and usage details.
- Select time frame: Select 1 day or 7 days (for example., last 7 days to analyze the weekly trends).
- Select Export to export the chart data from the Console into an Excel, CSV, or PPTX format.
- In the Export dialog window, select the graph name from the list of options and then click Confirm.
