Using the Home Tab
The Home tab of a data catalog instance has four sections.
1. Search Box
The Search field lets you quickly search across the entire data catalog.
You specify the search text and press Enter or click Search. All data objects matching the search text in the data catalog are listed in a Search tab.
2. Tiles
The following tiles in the home page let you use your data catalog effectively:
- Quick Actions: Provides links to frequently performed actions in a data catalog instance.
- Data Assets by Type: Displays a pie chart showing the number and type of data assets created in the data catalog instance.
- Popular Data Catalog Tags: Displays all the tags created and applied to data objects. Click a tag to view a list of all the data objects that are linked to the tag.
- Learn: Displays links to the Data Catalog service guide, Data Catalog REST API reference, Data Catalog videos, tutorials, and release notes.
- Recently Updated: Displays the data catalog objects that were recently updated.
After creating a data catalog instance, when you access the Home tab for the first time, the following tiles appear:
- Data Assets: Use this tile to create a data asset or discover the available data sources in your tenancy.
- Glossaries: Use this tile to create a business glossary.
- Learn: Displays links to the Data Catalog service guide, Data Catalog REST API reference, Data Catalog videos, tutorials, and release notes.
3. Tab Links
The home tab provides links to all the Data Catalog objects, such as, data assets, data entities, attributes, glossaries, terms, jobs, and schedules. Click any link to open that Data Catalog object in a new tab.
4. Tab Management
The open tab and tab settings icons are available to you from any page in a data catalog instance.
Click the open tab (plus icon) to open a new tab.
Click the tab settings (down arrowhead icon) to view all open tabs, return to the Home tab, or close all tabs.
