Working with Reports

View detailed and configurable reports to track and analyze various operational metrics across environments, runbooks, compliance, and schedules in Fleet Application Management.

The following topics describe the key report categories, their metrics, customization options, and the user interface for accessing and interacting with these reports.

Report Categories

Reports are categorized into four main types, each addressing specific operational insights:
  • Patches applied status: Tracks the number of successful and failed patches on different dates based on applied filters. The key metrics include patch status (for example, success, failure, in progress, and so on).

Use this report to view patch application trends and drill down by fleet or product.

  • Patch compliance status: Measures compliance levels across resources, fleets, and products. Key metrics include the percentage of compliance achieved (compliant compared with noncompliant fleets) and detailed breakdowns by resource, fleet, or product.

Use this report to monitor compliance levels over time.

  • Runbook execution status: Tracks the status of each scheduled run for maintenance or other operations. The key metric is the execution status, which shows whether a lifecycle operation succeeded or failed across different resources and targets.

Use this report to monitor scheduled tasks and track their outcomes at a detailed level.

  • Runbook performance: Provides insights into runbook usage and performance. The key metric is the total run time for successful lifecycle operations across different resources and targets.

Leverage this report to assess the effectiveness of your runbooks and pinpoint any performance bottlenecks.

Accessing Reports

The reporting feature is accessible through a dedicated Reports menu in Fleet Application Management.

  1. Open the navigation menu  and select Observability & Management. Under Fleet Application Management, select Reports.
By default, the Overview tab opens displaying predefined, non-editable reports summarizing key metrics for quick insights. You can view the following curated reports:
    • Patch applied status: Counts of succeeded and failed patches within a selected time frame.
    • Patch compliance status: Number of compliant and noncompliant fleets within a selected time frame.
    • Runbook execution status: Shows the number of successful and failed runs for each runbook, and how often each one runs.
  2. To view the reports in a different compartment, use the Compartment filter to switch compartments.
You must have permission to work in a compartment to see the resources in it. If you're not sure which compartment to use, contact an administrator. For more information, see Understanding Compartments.
  3. To view reports from specific date ranges, use the Report date filter to select options such as the last 7 days or the past 2 weeks, or enter your own custom date range.
Using granularity, you can further detail reports based on the previous month, quarter, or year.
    Note

Ensure you select a valid date range.
  4. To view specific report categories, select the required category tab.
Each report category tab displays the following sections:
    • Graph section: A detailed, customizable chart for in-depth analysis.
    • Data grid section: A tabular display of detailed records corresponding to the graph. Changes in the graph (such as selecting a data point or filtering results) are reflected in the grid, and vice versa.
    Tip

A customizable chart lets you select different plotting options to match your preferences. For example, instead of displaying only time on the x-axis, you can display fleet view or product view as the primary reference on the x-axis, along with time.

You can gain a comprehensive view of each graph section for specific report categories by using different filters from the Search and Filter box.

From the Search and Filter box, select one or more filters and specify the values you want to use to customize reports. In general, the filters correspond to the columns shown in the data grid. The Compartment filter is always displayed next to Applied filters.

Some graph sections of specific report categories include dimensions or filters for further data drill-down. To access these, select an option from Chart dimension, then specify the corresponding data in the Search and Filter box or select a value from the applied filter list. These dimensions or filters are displayed next to Applied filters. To learn about the supported dimensions and filters, see Information in a Report Tab.

    Note

When you remove the granularity filter, only the data grid section appears, and the graph section is hidden. To display granularity again, select a granularity value in the Search and Filter box.
  5. To view details of each report in a tabular form, check the data grid section following the graph section in each report tab.
To export report details available in the grid section into an Excel or CSV format, select Export.
