Versions in Runbooks
Versioning runbooks in Fleet Application Management involve assigning unique identifiers or version numbers to different iterations of the runbook to track changes, improvements, and updates over time.
Versioning in a runbook benefits you with the following:
- Change tracking: Allows you to track the evolution of the runbook's content. Each version represents a specific point in the runbook's development, making it easy to identify when changes were made, what was added or modified.
- Rollback and recovery: In the event of errors, unforeseen issues, or process failures, you can rollback to a previous, stable version of the runbook.
- Collaboration and control: Encourages collaboration by allowing multiple contributors to work on the runbook simultaneously. Each contributor can work on a specific version, and their changes can be merged or reviewed before being incorporated into the published runbook. This ensures a controlled and organized workflow.
