Assisted Installer for OpenShift Container Platform

Provision OpenShift Container Platform on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) using Red Hat's Assisted Installer. The Assisted Installer is recommended for most deployment scenarios.

The Assisted Installer workflow integrates steps between the Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console and the OCI Console. This documentation focuses on the tasks performed in the OCI Console and is intended to be used together with the Red Hat documentation for tasks performed in the Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console.

To run the Assisted Installer process, first generate the discovery ISO image in the Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console. Then, provision the infrastructure in the OCI Console, and finally, complete the cluster configuration and installation back in the Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console.

Important

Applying the Terraform stack provisions the OCI infrastructure but doesn't install OpenShift. After the Apply job succeeds, return to Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console, start the Assisted Installer installation, and wait for the installation to complete. Autoscaled workers can't be provisioned until the cluster installation is complete and the autoscaling operator is running.

The Assisted Installer stack can create a VCN or reuse an existing VCN and subnets. Before selecting Use Existing Networking Infrastructure, complete Prerequisites for Using an Existing VCN.

For information on the Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console tasks, see Installing a cluster on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) by using the Assisted Installer (Red Hat documentation).

For information on the OCI Console tasks, see Installing a Cluster with Assisted Installer.
