VCN DRG and NAT Gateway

Using the VCN DRG and NAT Gateway subject area, you can create reports about VCN DRG and NAT Gateway resources. With these reports, you can track the different attributes and metrics for VCN DRG and NAT Gateway resources across tenancies and compartments.

  • A VCN is your private, logically isolated network in OCI—similar to a traditional on‑prem network. It defines the IP address space (CIDR blocks) and contains subnets, route tables, security lists/NSGs, and gateways. You use a VCN to host and control traffic to/from Compute, databases, load balancers, and so on.
  • A DRG is a virtual edge router that enables private connectivity between your VCN and external networks.
  • A NAT Gateway provides outbound-only Internet access for resources in private subnets. Instances can initiate connections to the Internet (for example, OS updates, pulling packages, calling external APIs), but no inbound connections from the Internet are allowed through NAT.

Business Questions

The subject area can answer the following business questions:

  • How many attachment / distribution / route tables counts are present?
  • What's the lifecycle state of each attachment / distribution / route tables counts?
  • What's the creation and deletion time of each attachment / distribution / route tables counts?
  • Which VCN NAT Gateway is connected to which route table?
  • Which compartment holds the highest attachment count? In which region was the attachment created?

Logical Model

The VCN DRG and NAT Gateway subject area is based on a relationship-driven logical model.
