Enable Disaster Recovery

Establishing a disaster recovery solution ensures business continuity in the event of unexpected disruptions such as natural or human disasters.

There are several approaches to implementing disaster recovery:

  • Oracle-managed disaster recovery

This simple OCI-native approach allows you to set up fully automated disaster recovery specifically for Oracle Integration instances. This approach doesn't include other OCI services such as Visual Builder or Oracle Autonomous AI Lakehouse.

Oracle-managed disaster recovery is available in select paired regions. See Disaster Recovery Availability.

To implement Oracle-managed disaster recovery, see Configuring an Oracle-Managed Disaster Recovery Solution for Oracle Integration 3.

  • Customer-managed disaster recovery

This manual self-managed approach allows you to set up disaster recovery for Oracle Integration instances plus other Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) services that support Oracle Integration such as Visual Builder or Oracle Autonomous AI Lakehouse (formerly known as Autonomous Data Warehouse).

Customer-managed disaster recovery is available in any region where Oracle Integration is available. See Region Availability.

To implement customer-managed disaster recovery, see Configuring a Customer-Managed Disaster Recovery Solution for Oracle Integration 3.

  • Full Stack Disaster Recovery

This comprehensive OCI-native approach allows you to set up fully automated disaster recovery for an entire business system that includes Oracle Integration along with many other OCI resources, OCI services, and Oracle or non-Oracle applications.

OCI Full Stack Disaster Recovery is the disaster recovery as a service for OCI Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS). The OCI service orchestrates fully automated, end-to-end disaster recovery for individual business systems where Oracle Integration is an important component of a complete application stack. Visual Builder or Oracle Autonomous AI Lakehouse can also be added to Full Stack DR.

Option 1: Orchestrate Oracle-managed disaster recovery

After enabling Oracle-managed disaster recovery for Oracle Integration, complete the steps in Preparing Integration Instance for Disaster Recovery and Add an Integration Instance to a Disaster Recovery Protection Group in the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure documentation.

Option 2: Orchestrate customer-managed disaster recovery

After configuring your customer-managed disaster recovery solution for Oracle Integration, complete the steps in Automating Customer Managed Disaster Recovery for OIC using Full Stack Disaster Recovery.
