Perform APM Java Agent Prerequisite Tasks
As a first step towards provisioning and deploying an APM Java agent, you must ensure that you've reviewed the requirements listed in this section and performed the prerequisite tasks:
-
Your applications run on Java Development Kit (JDK) version 1.6 or higher.
If you are planning to use the thread snapshot feature, review Configure Thread Snapshots in APM Agent.
-
Plan for approximately 200MB of JVM memory heap space for the APM Java agent. You may need to adjust the JVM's memory heap settings (
-Xmx
) appropriately. -
Plan for 200 MB of disk space for each agent. (It includes disk space allocated for agent log files).
-
The application server you are using is a supported type and version. See the Application Performance Monitoring certification matrix on My Oracle Support.
-
The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Prerequisites, such as creating an APM domain, have been completed. See Perform Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Prerequisites.
Once completed, you can proceed with the next step: Download the APM Java Agent Software or use the Install APM agent wizard for assistance with downloading, provisioning and deploying the APM agent. You can find the wizard at the top of the Download APM agents page.
