Advanced Options
If you want to customize your Java installation, then you can use Advanced options to determine how and where you install Java.
There are two types of Java install
- Standard installation uses platform specific Java installers
- Customized installation uses Java compressed archives that are extracted to user provided custom paths
- Choose an option for the Java installation.Select Install Java using installer for installing Java to standard locations using executable installers.
- If you have chosen to install JDK 8 release(s), which supports JDK and JRE package
types under standard installation, you will be asked to choose the
Java 8 package type to install. Note that:
- JDK 8 compressed archives are available for Linux and macOS (aarch64)
- JRE 8 compressed archives are available for Linux, Windows, and macOS (aarch64 and x86_64)
- If you have chosen to install JDK 8 Enterprise Performance Pack
(EPP) release(s), note that:
- JDK 8 Enterprise Performance Pack (EPP) is available only for Linux
- Only RPM packages (ARM and x64) are supported

- If you have chosen to install Java on OCI Oracle Linux instance(s) that has the required Oracle Linux RPM repository to support both headful and headless RPM packages, you will be asked to choose RPM package type for Oracle Linux RPM repositories.
Select Extract Java from compressed archive to extract Java to customized location from compressed archive.- If you have chosen to install JDK 8 release(s), which supports JDK, JRE and Server
JRE package types under custom installation, you will be asked to
choose the Java 8 package type to install. Note that:
- JDK 8 compressed archives are available for Linux and macOS (aarch64)
- JRE 8 compressed archives are available for Linux, Windows, and macOS (aarch64 and x86_64)
- Server JRE 8 compressed archives are available for Linux and Windows
- If you have chosen to install JDK 8 Enterprise Performance Pack (EPP) release(s), note that JDK 8 Enterprise Performance Pack (EPP) is available only for Linux.
- Provide the path to which Java has to be extracted under the Customize installation path section.
- If you have chosen to install JDK 8 release(s), which supports JDK and JRE package
types under standard installation, you will be asked to choose the
Java 8 package type to install. Note that:
- Click Next to Review Post-Installation Actions.
