Move Managed Instances

Moving a managed instance changes the registration of the associated Oracle Management Agent or Oracle Cloud Agent from one fleet to another, thereby moving the managed instance to the new fleet.

When a managed instance is moved to a new fleet, the historic data of the managed instance will not move to the new fleet. For example, if the managed instance was moved from fleet A to fleet B on January 1, 2021, then fleet A will contain the managed instance's data until January 1, 2021 and fleet B will contain the management instance's data from January 1, 2021.

You can move one or more managed instances from one fleet to another within the same compartment. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. In the Fleet dashboard, select the fleet containing the managed instances you want to move.
  2. In the Resources section, click Managed instances view for that fleet.
  3. Select the managed instances you want to move to a different fleet.
  4. Click Move managed instance(s).
The Move managed instance(s) to a Different Fleet dialog opens.
  5. Choose the new fleet from the list. The target fleet must be an active fleet.
  6. Click Move Managed instance(s).
The managed instance will be moved to the new fleet.
    Note

If you move the managed instance to a new fleet, the historic data of the managed instance will not move to the new fleet.

Work requests already created for the moved managed instance(s) might be affected by this operation and can be managed in the Work Request module.
