Provisioning an Autonomous Database
Provisioning and basic management functions for an Oracle Autonomous Database Serverless instance is done from the Oracle Autonomous Database@GCP console. Additional management functions are available within the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) portal available via the link to that Oracle Autonomous Database from the Oracle Autonomous Database@GCP console.
- From Google Cloud console, open the Oracle Database@Google Cloud application.
- From the left menu, select the Autonomous Database menu item.
- Select the + CREATE icon.
- In the Instance details section, enter the following information.
- Enter an Instance ID. It is required, and must be unique to your account.
- Enter an Database name. It is required, and must be unique to your account. It can be the same value as the Instance ID.
- The Database display name field is optional, and provides a name to ease management in large systems.
- Select the Region from the drop-down list of available regions. This field is required, and cannot be changed after provisioning.
- The Oracle Cloud Account is a read-only field, and should be the value for your Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
- In the Workload configuration section, select a workload type from Data Warehouse, Transaction Processing, JSON, or APEX as appropriate.
- In the Database configuration section, enter the following information.
- Select the License type drop-down field, and select either License included or Bring your own license (BYOL).
- Select the Choose database version drop-down field, and select from the available versions.
- Enter the number for ECPU count, in the range from 2 to 512.
- Select or unselect the Enable compute auto scaling as needed. Compute auto scaling allows the system to expand up to three (3) times the specified ECPU count as demand increases.
- Enter the number for Storage (TB), in the range from 1 TB to 384 TBs.
- Select or unselect the Enable storage auto scaling as needed. Storage auto scaling allows the system to expand up to three (3) times the reserved Storage (TB) as demand increases.
- In the Backup retention section, enter the number for Backup retention period in days, in the range from 1 to 60 days.
- In the Administrator credentials section, enter the following information.
- Enter a Password between 12 and 30. It must contain at least one (1) uppercase letter, one (1) lowercase letter, and one (1) number. It cannot contain a double quote (") character or the name
admin
. - Enter a Confirm password between 12 and 30. It must match the Password.

- In the Networking section, enter the following information.
- Select the Associated network from the drop-down list of available VPC networks.
- Enter the Subnet Range value in CIDR notation. Ensure that the CIDR range does not overlap with any other subnets in the selected VPC.
- The Advanced network settings are collapsed by default. Open the item to see or change the values.
- Enter the Private IP address value.
- Enter a Hostname prefix that will form the first portion of the Oracle Autonomous Database host name. It can only contain letters and numbers, and be a maximum of 63 characters.
- The Require mutual TLS (mTLS) authentication checkbox is unchecked by default. If selected, mTLS wallet connections will be required to authenticate connections.
- In the Optional notifications and annoucement contacts section allows you to enter up to 10 unique email addresses to be contacted for maintenance notifications. You can also delete an existing Optional notifications and annoucement contacts.
- By default, the Advanced fields section is collapsed. If you want to see the current values or change these values, open the Advanced fields section and enter the following information.
- Select the Character set from the drop-down list of available character sets.
- Select the National character set from the drop-down list of available national character sets.
- You are now ready to provision your Oracle Autonomous Database. Select the CREATE button to begin the provisioning process, or the CANCEL button to stop the process without provisioning.
- Wait for the Oracle Autonomous Database provisioning process to complete before attempting to use that database.
