oracle.oci.oci_database_db_system – Manage a DbSystem resource in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure¶
Note
This plugin is part of the oracle.oci collection (version 5.5.0).
You might already have this collection installed if you are using the ansible package.
It is not included in ansible-core.
To check whether it is installed, run ansible-galaxy collection list.
To install it, use: ansible-galaxy collection install oracle.oci.
To use it in a playbook, specify: oracle.oci.oci_database_db_system.
New in version 2.9.0: of oracle.oci
Synopsis¶
This module allows the user to create, update and delete a DbSystem resource in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
For state=present, creates a new DB system in the specified compartment and availability domain. The Oracle Database edition that you specify applies to all the databases on that DB system. The selected edition cannot be changed.
An initial database is created on the DB system based on the request parameters you provide and some default options. For detailed information about default options, see Bare metal and virtual machine DB system default options.
Note: Deprecated for Exadata Cloud Service systems. Use the new resource model APIs instead.
For Exadata Cloud Service instances, support for this API will end on May 15th, 2021. See Switching an Exadata DB System to the New Resource Model and APIs for details on converting existing Exadata DB systems to the new resource model.
Use the CreateCloudExadataInfrastructure and CreateCloudVmCluster APIs to provision a new Exadata Cloud Service instance.
This resource has the following action operations in the oracle.oci.oci_database_db_system_actions module: precheck, rollback, update_snapshot_retention_days, upgrade.
Requirements¶
The below requirements are needed on the host that executes this module.

If set to true, configures automatic backups. If you previously used RMAN or dbcli to configure backups and then you switch to using the Console or the API for backups, a new backup configuration is created and associated with your database. This means that you can no longer rely on your previously configured unmanaged backups to work.

A Fault Domain is a grouping of hardware and infrastructure within an availability domain. Fault Domains let you distribute your instances so that they are not on the same physical hardware within a single availability domain. A hardware failure or maintenance that affects one Fault Domain does not affect DB systems in other Fault Domains.
If you do not specify the Fault Domain, the system selects one for you. To change the Fault Domain for a DB system, terminate it and launch a new DB system in the preferred Fault Domain.
If the node count is greater than 1, you can specify which Fault Domains these nodes will be distributed into. The system assigns your nodes automatically to the Fault Domains you specify so that no Fault Domain contains more than one node.
To get a list of Fault Domains, use the ListFaultDomains operation in the Identity and Access Management Service API.

Whether to attempt non-idempotent creation of a resource. By default, create resource is an idempotent operation, and doesn't create the resource if it already exists. Setting this option to true, forcefully creates a copy of the resource, even if it already exists. This option is mutually exclusive with key_by.

Weeks during the month when maintenance should be performed. Weeks start on the 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd days of the month, and have a duration of 7 days. Weeks start and end based on calendar dates, not days of the week. For example, to allow maintenance during the 2nd week of the month (from the 8th day to the 14th day of the month), use the value 2. Maintenance cannot be scheduled for the fifth week of months that contain more than 28 days. Note that this parameter works in conjunction with the daysOfWeek and hoursOfDay parameters to allow you to specify specific days of the week and hours that maintenance will be performed.

**Subnet Restrictions:** - For bare metal DB systems and for single node virtual machine DB systems, do not use a subnet that overlaps with 192.168.16.16/28. - For Exadata and virtual machine 2-node RAC DB systems, do not use a subnet that overlaps with 192.168.128.0/20.
These subnets are used by the Oracle Clusterware private interconnect on the database instance. Specifying an overlapping subnet will cause the private interconnect to malfunction. This restriction applies to both the client subnet and the backup subnet.

Indicates whether diagnostic collection is enabled for the VM cluster/Cloud VM cluster/VMBM DBCS. Enabling diagnostic collection allows you to receive Events service notifications for guest VM issues. Diagnostic collection also allows Oracle to provide enhanced service and proactive support for your Exadata system. You can enable diagnostic collection during VM cluster/Cloud VM cluster provisioning. You can also disable or enable it at any time using the `UpdateVmCluster` or `updateCloudVmCluster` API.

This restriction applies to both the client subnet and backup subnet.

The OCID of the virtual IP (VIP) addresses associated with the DB system. The Cluster Ready Services (CRS) creates and maintains one VIP address for each node in the DB system to enable failover. If one node fails, the VIP is reassigned to another active node in the cluster.
**Note:** For a single-node DB system, this list is empty.
