``update`` ========== .. contents:: :local: :depth: 1 Description ------------ Update the specified instance pool. The OCID of the instance pool remains the same. Usage ----- .. code-block:: none oci compute-management instance-pool update [OPTIONS] Required Parameters -------------------- .. option:: --instance-pool-id [text] The `OCID `__ of the instance pool. Optional Parameters -------------------- .. option:: --defined-tags [complex type] Defined tags for this resource. Each key is predefined and scoped to a namespace. For more information, see `Resource Tags `__. Example: .. code-block:: python {"Operations": {"CostCenter": "42"}} This is a complex type whose value must be valid JSON. The value can be provided as a string on the command line or passed in as a file using the file://path/to/file syntax. The :option:`--generate-param-json-input` option can be used to generate an example of the JSON which must be provided. We recommend storing this example in a file, modifying it as needed and then passing it back in via the file:// syntax. .. option:: --display-name [text] A user-friendly name. Does not have to be unique, and it's changeable. Avoid entering confidential information. .. option:: --force Perform update without prompting for confirmation. .. option:: --freeform-tags [complex type] Free-form tags for this resource. Each tag is a simple key-value pair with no predefined name, type, or namespace. For more information, see `Resource Tags `__. Example: .. code-block:: python {"Department": "Finance"} This is a complex type whose value must be valid JSON. The value can be provided as a string on the command line or passed in as a file using the file://path/to/file syntax. The :option:`--generate-param-json-input` option can be used to generate an example of the JSON which must be provided. We recommend storing this example in a file, modifying it as needed and then passing it back in via the file:// syntax. .. option:: --from-json [text] Provide input to this command as a JSON document from a file using the file://path-to/file syntax. The :option:`--generate-full-command-json-input` option can be used to generate a sample json file to be used with this command option. The key names are pre-populated and match the command option names (converted to camelCase format, e.g. compartment-id --> compartmentId), while the values of the keys need to be populated by the user before using the sample file as an input to this command. For any command option that accepts multiple values, the value of the key can be a JSON array. Options can still be provided on the command line. If an option exists in both the JSON document and the command line then the command line specified value will be used. For examples on usage of this option, please see our "using CLI with advanced JSON options" link: https://docs.cloud.oracle.com/iaas/Content/API/SDKDocs/cliusing.htm#AdvancedJSONOptions .. option:: --if-match [text] For optimistic concurrency control. In the PUT or DELETE call for a resource, set the `if-match` parameter to the value of the etag from a previous GET or POST response for that resource. The resource will be updated or deleted only if the etag you provide matches the resource's current etag value. .. option:: --instance-configuration-id [text] The `OCID `__ of the instance configuration associated with the instance pool. .. option:: --instance-display-name-formatter [text] A user-friendly formatter for the instance pool's instances. Instance displaynames follow the format. The formatter does not retroactively change instance's displaynames, only instance displaynames in the future follow the format .. option:: --instance-hostname-formatter [text] A user-friendly formatter for the instance pool's instances. Instance hostnames follow the format. The formatter does not retroactively change instance's hostnames, only instance hostnames in the future follow the format .. option:: --max-wait-seconds [integer] The maximum time to wait for the resource to reach the lifecycle state defined by ``--wait-for-state``. Defaults to 1200 seconds. .. option:: --placement-configurations [complex type] The placement configurations for the instance pool. Provide one placement configuration for each availability domain. To use the instance pool with a regional subnet, provide a placement configuration for each availability domain, and include the regional subnet in each placement configuration. This option is a JSON list with items of type UpdateInstancePoolPlacementConfigurationDetails. For documentation on UpdateInstancePoolPlacementConfigurationDetails please see our API reference: https://docs.cloud.oracle.com/api/#/en/iaas/20160918/datatypes/UpdateInstancePoolPlacementConfigurationDetails. This is a complex type whose value must be valid JSON. The value can be provided as a string on the command line or passed in as a file using the file://path/to/file syntax. The :option:`--generate-param-json-input` option can be used to generate an example of the JSON which must be provided. We recommend storing this example in a file, modifying it as needed and then passing it back in via the file:// syntax. .. option:: --size [integer] The number of instances that should be in the instance pool. To determine whether capacity is available for a specific shape before you resize an instance pool, use the `CreateComputeCapacityReport `__ operation. .. option:: --wait-for-state [text] This operation creates, modifies or deletes a resource that has a defined lifecycle state. Specify this option to perform the action and then wait until the resource reaches a given lifecycle state. Multiple states can be specified, returning on the first state. For example, ``--wait-for-state`` SUCCEEDED ``--wait-for-state`` FAILED would return on whichever lifecycle state is reached first. If timeout is reached, a return code of 2 is returned. For any other error, a return code of 1 is returned. Accepted values are: .. code-block:: py PROVISIONING, RUNNING, SCALING, STARTING, STOPPED, STOPPING, TERMINATED, TERMINATING .. option:: --wait-interval-seconds [integer] Check every ``--wait-interval-seconds`` to see whether the resource has reached the lifecycle state defined by ``--wait-for-state``. Defaults to 30 seconds. Global Parameters ------------------ Use ``oci --help`` for help on global parameters. :option:`--auth-purpose`, :option:`--auth`, :option:`--cert-bundle`, :option:`--cli-auto-prompt`, :option:`--cli-rc-file`, :option:`--config-file`, :option:`--connection-timeout`, :option:`--debug`, :option:`--defaults-file`, :option:`--endpoint`, :option:`--generate-full-command-json-input`, :option:`--generate-param-json-input`, :option:`--help`, :option:`--latest-version`, :option:`--max-retries`, :option:`--no-retry`, :option:`--opc-client-request-id`, :option:`--opc-request-id`, :option:`--output`, :option:`--profile`, :option:`--proxy`, :option:`--query`, :option:`--raw-output`, :option:`--read-timeout`, :option:`--realm-specific-endpoint`, :option:`--region`, :option:`--release-info`, :option:`--request-id`, :option:`--version`, :option:`-?`, :option:`-d`, :option:`-h`, :option:`-i`, :option:`-v` Example using required parameter ------------------ Copy and paste the following example into a JSON file, replacing the example parameters with your own. .. code-block:: none :class: copy-code-block oci compute-management instance-configuration create --generate-param-json-input instance-details > instance-details.json oci compute-management instance-pool create --generate-param-json-input placement-configurations > placement-configurations.json Copy the following CLI commands into a file named example.sh. Run the command by typing "bash example.sh" and replacing the example parameters with your own. Please note this sample will only work in the POSIX-compliant bash-like shell. You need to set up `the OCI configuration `__ and `appropriate security policies `__ before trying the examples. .. code-block:: none :class: copy-code-block export compartment_id= # https://docs.cloud.oracle.com/en-us/iaas/tools/oci-cli/latest/oci_cli_docs/cmdref/compute-management/instance-configuration/create.html#cmdoption-compartment-id export size= # https://docs.cloud.oracle.com/en-us/iaas/tools/oci-cli/latest/oci_cli_docs/cmdref/compute-management/instance-pool/create.html#cmdoption-size instance_configuration_id=$(oci compute-management instance-configuration create --compartment-id $compartment_id --instance-details file://instance-details.json --query data.id --raw-output) instance_pool_id=$(oci compute-management instance-pool create --compartment-id $compartment_id --instance-configuration-id $instance_configuration_id --placement-configurations file://placement-configurations.json --size $size --query data.id --raw-output) oci compute-management instance-pool update --instance-pool-id $instance_pool_id
