Understanding Patching
When you patch a domain, WebLogic Management identifies applicable patches and installs.
There are three types of patching for WebLogic domains:
- Operating system
- JDK patching
- WebLogic Server domain middleware patching
WebLogic Management can apply middleware patches to the whole domain at once. This means every server in the domain gets patched instead of patching servers one at a time. Patch inventory is maintained and kept up-to-date by WebLogic Management.
Patching is not enabled by default. When you enable patching for a domain, you can also configure rollbacks if a failure occurs and server shutdown timeout. Before you patch a domain, you must accept the terms and conditions of use for WebLogic Management. See Configuring Patching and Server Control and Accepting Terms of Use Agreement.
