Allocate Decimal Quantities for Kit Components

Improve flexibility in kit component management by enabling the allocation of decimal quantities in Oracle Warehouse Management Release 12.2.14. This feature allows you to allocate decimal quantities for kit components during picking, even though Order Management does not permit order quantities in decimals. When quantities are split across multiple locators, decimal allocations can be combined to result in an integer value for shipment, adhering to Shipping Execution’s requirement for integer quantities.

Prior to this release, decimal quantities for kit components were not supported, limiting flexibility in allocation scenarios and often requiring manual adjustments to ensure integer shipments. The business benefit is enhanced precision in inventory allocation, enabling more accurate fulfillment of kit orders without violating shipment constraints. This addresses the industry need for detailed inventory control in manufacturing and distribution environments where kits are common. Use cases include splitting kit component quantities across different storage locations to optimize stock usage. Implementation considerations involve ensuring integration with Order Management and Shipping Execution to maintain compliance with integer shipment rules while leveraging decimal allocations for internal processes.

Steps to enable and configure

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Tips and considerations

- Verify that inventory tracking systems can accurately record and manage decimal quantities to prevent discrepancies during allocation.

- Coordinate with Order Management setups to ensure seamless processing of kit orders despite decimal allocations internally.

- Monitor shipment processes to confirm that decimal allocations result in integer quantities at the point of shipping to avoid compliance issues.
