Reserve Component Items for Work Orders

You can now manually reserve component items for work orders by invoking the material reservations action for a job operation from Work Content or Dispatch List in Oracle MES for Discrete Manufacturing. Additionally, the component availability program  is enhanced to create, update, or delete high level component item reservations for multiple work orders automatically. This enables you to create or update component reservations for multiple work orders along with the component availability calculations in MES.

Tips and considerations

  • Enable Reservation at organization level to automatically reserve items for multiple work orders.
  • The program reserves material for multiple work orders as well as component availability based on Job priority rules, job and component inclusion criteria, and forced allocation rules.
  • By default, the program uses job priority based on ascending order of job scheduled completion date and job scheduled start date.
  • If components are already reserved for work orders through WIP, the high-level reservations are created or updated when the component availability program is run in MES.
