Price Usage Transactions Based on Billing Period Date

Improve billing accuracy by pricing usage transactions using the billing period date in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.14. This feature allows you to apply pricing based on the specific billing period date for usage transactions, ensuring that charges reflect the rate applicable during that period. Before this release, pricing for usage transactions might not have been tied directly to the billing period date, potentially leading to inconsistencies or disputes in billing amounts due to rate changes over time.

The business value of this enhancement is the precise alignment of usage charges with applicable pricing, enhancing financial transparency and reducing billing disputes. It supports accurate revenue recognition by ensuring charges are calculated based on relevant time periods. This addresses the industry need for fair and accurate usage-based billing in sectors such as Utilities or Equipment Leasing. Use cases include applying period-specific rates for fluctuating usage, and implementation considerations involve ensuring pricing rules are updated to reflect billing period dates.

Steps to enable and configure

Set the profile option OKS: Default Pricing Date For Usage Contracts to define the date that determines the correct price list and pricing effectivity for usage contracts. You can select a value for the profile option from the LOV. The available values are:
