Deleting Application Log Files

The database server writes, or logs, activities that occur in the server and applications in text files with a .log extension. Each Oracle Hyperion Planning application on the server has its own application log, named after the application. Information in application logs can help you pinpoint where and why an error occurred. You can delete these application level log files in Oracle Hyperion Calculation Manager.

The information in the application log can help you assess:

  • Who performed a specific operation

  • When an operation was performed

  • Errors that occurred when an operation was performed or attempted

  • Information about dimensions and members to aid in optimization

  • The name of an artifact used to perform an operation (such as a calc script used to perform a calculation) if the artifact resides on an instance of the server

To delete application level log files:

  1. From the System View, click the Database Properties icon.
  2. In the Enterprise View, expand the Planning application type and the application that contains the log files you want to delete.
  3. Right-click the application, and select Delete Log.
  4. Confirm whether you want to delete the logs.

Calculation Manager displays a message letting you know whether the log files were deleted successfully.
