Version Backup and Restore

Versions of data stored within a Oracle Data Relationship Management application may be temporarily archived to a file system or migrated to another application using a backup and restore procedure. One or more versions may be selected and included in a backup file which is written to an external connection defined by an administrator. The backup file may later be restored to the same or a different application. During the restore process, Data Relationship Management identifies whether any incompatibilities exist between the properties stored in the file and the property definitions to which they will be loaded in the target application. Restore From File Warning transactions are logged for property incompatibilities which may be encountered during the restore process.

Caution:

Version backup files can only be restored to a Data Relationship Management application of the same release level. For example, version backup files output from an 11.1.2.4.x application can only be restored in an 11.1.2.4.x application. Database backups of the Data Relationship Management repository should be used to permanently archive application data.

Note:

You cannot modify the binary backup file after creation.
