Viewing and Printing Data Grids as Charts

By default, data grids are displayed in table format. You can choose to view data grids as charts, which can usually be read more quickly.

The chart is based on the data available in the data grid. It is based on the current page and it changes as you navigate to the next page, or when you expand or collapse members. You can customize the appearance of the chart.

You can also print a data grid chart.

To view data grids as charts:

  1. Open a data grid.
  2. From Grid Display Options, in the Chart section, select an option: Chart, Table, or Both.
  3. If you display Both, select the Chart Location: Vertical or Horizontal.
  4. From Chart Type, select an option:
    • Line

    • Bar (Horizontal)

    • Bar (Vertical)

    • Pie

    • Donut

    • Area

    • Bubble

    • Polar

    • Radar

    • Column (Horizontal)

    • Column (Vertical)

    • Funnel

    • Pareto

  5. Optional: Select 3D Chart to view the chart as three dimensional.
  6. For Legend Position, select a location for the chart legend:
    • Top

    • Bottom

    • Left

    • Right

    • None

  7. For Label Position, select an option:
    • Center. For bar graphs, the text displays centered on the bar. For non-bar graphs, the text displays above the data point if the value is positive, and below the data point if the value is negative

    • Maximum. For bar graphs, the text displays on the bar, near the top. For non-bar graphs, the text displays below the data point if the value is positive, and above the data point if the value is negative.

    • Minimum. For bar graphs, the text displays inside on the bar, near the bottom. For non-bar graphs, the text display above the data point if the value is positive, and below the data point if the value is negative.

    • None. No labels are displayed.

  8. Optional: Select Display All Labels.
  9. For Background, select an option for the chart background: None, Solid, or Gradient.

    If you selected Solid or Gradient, from the corresponding dropdown, select a color: Last Used Color, Default Color, or Custom Color.

  10. To save the chart options to the grid definition, after modification, click Save.
  11. Optional: To print the data grid chart, right-click in the chart and select Print. This prints only the chart.
