Optimizing SQL Relational Databases

You can configure the timeout value through the Timeout registry key setting. Depending on the size of your database records, some SQL queries issued by Oracle Hyperion Planning could take longer to execute than the default ADO timeout of 30 seconds. This could lead to failure when refreshing the application database. You can increase the timeout value (for example, to 180 seconds) to decrease the likelihood of refresh failure.

To optimize the timeout value:

  1. Open the Registry Editor.
  2. Navigate to this location:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/HyperionSolutions/Planning

If the Timeout registry key exists in the right pane, the timeout value is set to a corresponding value. If the key does not exist, the value is set to the default. Its type must be DWORD.
