Windows 10: Issue with Microsoft KB4507460 Update

After installing Microsoft update KB4507460 for Windows 10, when trying to open a report from a web-based dialog in Oracle Smart View for Office, such as a Financial Reporting report, Excel crashes.

This can occur with both 32- and 64-bit versions of Smart View, and when Enhanced Protection Mode is enabled for Microsoft Internet Explorer.

To fix this problem, Microsoft has issued update KB4512517. Ensure that your system has this update.

If you still experience this issue after the KB4512517 update, or if you cannot install the update, or if you do not have access to the update, you can enable script debugging to help prevent the crash. Try either of the following methods to enable script debugging:

  • Enable the script debugging options in Internet Explorer's Internet Options dialog, Advanced tab:

    1. In Internet Explorer, go to Tools, then Internet options, and then click the Advanced tab.

    2. In the Browsing group, select these options:

      • Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer)

      • Disable script debugging (Other)

    3. Click Apply, and then click OK.

    4. Restart Internet Explorer.

  • Enable the "Turn on script debugging" policy described here:
