Understanding Client Access Data Source Names

The names of Client Access data sources must conform to these standards:

  • Limit to 32 characters

  • Begin with an alphabetic character

  • Do not use these characters: { } [ ] ( ) ? * = ! @ ;

    Note:

    You must type the data source name before you can use the Client Access ODBC driver to access IBM i data.
