Understanding the Purge Process

Several purge programs are available that enable you to remove obsolete information from the tables. You can run the programs in proof mode, which enables you to verify the information before it is removed. When you run the programs in update mode, the system deletes the records.

Important: Purge programs do not write records to another table; therefore, you cannot recover records that have been purged from the tables. In general, you first run the programs in proof mode to ensure that the system deletes only the information that you intend to delete.
