Before You Begin
Purpose
This Oracle By Example (OBE) describes how to use Composed EnterpriseOne pages to build a dashboard that provides a unified view of EnterpriseOne automation systems.Time to Complete
45 minutes.Background
Enterprise Automation is the collection of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne features targeted at getting better data into your JD Edwards system and getting better insights out of that data. It’s “digital gold.” But Enterprise Automation also refers to the techniques and disciplines we use to model and analyze that data as we seek to identify and solve impediments to improvement.
The EnterpriseOne product features that comprise the Enterprise Automation framework include some that have been around for a while: Orchestrator, Workflow, One View Watchlists, UX One analytics, EnterpriseOne pages, as well as some more recent innovations, such as Enterprise Process Modeler and Widgets. We can employ them all with the aim of getting better data into your EnterpriseOne system and getting better insights out of it.
An Enterprise Automation Dashboard can help you collect and visualize all the relevant components of your Enterprise Automation framework.
In this OBE, you will learn how to build an Enterprise Automation Dashboard as an EnterpriseOne composed page with the following components:
-
Two instances of an enterprise process model
-
A Watchlist pane with a few Watchlists
-
A Widget
-
The Workflow Monitor application
-
The Orchestrator Health Monitor application
When you complete this OBE, your Enterprise Automation Dashboard will look similar to this:

What Do You Need?
To perform the steps in this OBE, you will need:
-
Access to a JD Edwards EnterpriseOne environment with Release 26 (Tools Release 9.2.26.0) or later. JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Trial Edition running on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is suitable, but you can use any environment with the proper Tools release.
-
At least one enterprise process model created, such as the enterprise process model created in the “Analyzing Business Processes Using Enterprise Process Modeler” OBE.
-
At least one widget created, such as the widget created in the “Creating and Displaying a Pie Chart Widget” OBE.
-
User-defined object security to create composed pages.
-
Application security to Workflow Monitor (P98860X) and Orchestrator Health Monitor (P980060X).
Task 1: Adding an Enterprise Process Pane to a Composed Page
Perhaps the most useful component to add to an Enterprise Automation Dashboard is a view to an enterprise process model. Beginning with EnterpriseOne Tools Release 9.2.26.0, you can add up to two Enterprise Process panes to a composed page, enabling you to compare two views of the same process model with different filters, two different process models, or two process model snapshots. Adding these process models on a composed page enables you to see them at a glance; then you can open them in Enterprise Process Modeler for full analysis.
- Sign in to the EnterpriseOne web client.
- From the EnterpriseOne Home page, click the User menu
(under your user ID), click Manage Content, and
then click Composed Pages.
Verify that on the Welcome to the EnterpriseOne Page Composer! page,Create
is displayed in the Name field. - Click the Create New Content icon
.
- Click Enterprise Process Pane.
Note: If Enterprise Process Pane is not available in the list, it is because you have not yet created any enterprise process models. See to the “Analyzing Business Processes Using Enterprise Process Modeler” OBE for steps to create an enterprise process model.
- On the Create Link to Enterprise Process Pane window, in the
Name field, enter
Enterprise Process
. - Click OK.
The composed page canvas opens with an enterprise process pane covering the entire canvas because this is the only component on the page so far.
When building an Enterprise Automation Dashboard, it might be convenient to have two Enterprise Process panes on the dashboard, so that you can compare process models.
In the next step, you will add a second Enterprise Process pane. - Click the Create New Content icon
.
- Click and hold Enterprise Process Pane and drag it onto the canvas so that the blue box is at the bottom of the canvas, as shown below. Then release the mouse button.
- On the Create Link to Enterprise Process Pane window, in the
Name field, enter
Enterprise Process
. - Click OK. Now the composed page canvas has two
Enterprise Process panes.
Your panes might look different depending on the process models that are loaded. - In the menu bar, click the Save icon.
- In the Enter New Name window, enter
EA Dashboard
and click OK to save the page.

Task 2: Adding a Widget to a Composed Page
Enterprise Process Modeler is a critical tool for analyzing business processes in the context of Enterprise Automation. However, there are other useful tools as well. For example, EnterpriseOne Widgets enable you to visualize any data that you can produce using an orchestration.
In this exercise, you’ll add a widget to your Enterprise Automation Dashboard, such as the Purchase Orders by Business Unit pie chart created in the “Creating and Displaying a Pie Chart Widget” OBE.
- Begin with your composed page in design mode. If you are not already there from the previous exercise, sign in to the EnterpriseOne web client and click the tab for your EA Dashboard page. From the User menu (under your user ID), click Manage Content, and click Composed Pages.
- Click the Create New Content icon
.
- From the list of content types, click and hold Widget, and drag it so that a blue box appears to the left of the top process model. Then release the mouse button.
- On the Create Link to Widget window, in the Name field, enter
Purchase Orders by Business Unit
(or an appropriate name for the widget you intend to add). - Click OK.
- In the Widget pane, click the Select Widget drop-down list, and select POs by Business Unit (or any other widget that is available).
- In the menu bar, click the Save icon.
- In the menu bar, click the Close icon to
close design mode and render your page in runtime mode.
So far, your Enterprise Automation Dashboard has two process model panes and one widget. Your page might look different depending on which process models and Widget are shown.

Task 3: Adding One View Watchlists to a Composed Page
Like widgets, One View Watchlists can also be useful for visualizing key metrics about your business processes. Watchlists are a key component of UX One pages, and they are equally useful in the context of an Enterprise Automation dashboard.
- Begin with your composed page in design mode. If you are not already there from the previous exercise, sign in to the EnterpriseOne web client and click the tab for your EA Dashboard page. From the User menu (under your user ID), click Manage Content, and click Composed Pages.
- Click the Create New Content icon
.
- From the list of content types, click and hold Watchlist Pane, and drag it so that a blue box appears below the widget pane and to the left of the process model. Then release the mouse button.
- On the Create Link to Watchlist Pane window, in the Name field,
enter
Watchlists
. - Next to Options, select Empty Watchlist.
- Click OK.
- In the Watchlist Pane, click the Add item (+) icon to add a Watchlist.
- From the list of Watchlists, select Open Purchase
Orders.
For this exercise, it is not important which Watchlist you choose, but try to choose one that is relevant for the Procure-to-Pay process. - Again, click the Add item (+) icon and add a second Watchlist, for example, Open Purchase Orders-Past Due.
- In the menu bar, click the Save icon.
- In the menu bar, click the Close icon to
close design mode and render your page in runtime mode.
Now your Enterprise Automation Dashboard has two process model panes, one Widget, and one Watchlist pane with two Watchlists.
Your page might look different depending on which process models, Widget, and Watchlists are shown.

Task 4: Adding the Workflow Monitor to a Composed Page
An Enterprise Automation dashboard can show you more than just process models and metrics about those processes. It can also be useful by monitoring your key automation components, such as workflow. Because Workflow Monitor is an EnterpriseOne application, you can include it in your composed page.
- Begin with your composed page in design mode. If you are not already there from the previous exercise, sign on to the EnterpriseOne web client and click the tab for your EA Dashboard page. From the User menu (under your user ID), click Manage Content, and click Composed Pages.
- Click the Create New Content icon
.
- From the list of content types, click and hold EnterpriseOne Application, and drag it so that a blue box appears to the left of the Widget pane. Then release the mouse button.
- On the Create Link to EnterpriseOne Application window,
complete the following fields:
- Application:
P98860X
- Form:
Workflow Monitor (W98860XA)
- Version:
workflow monitor for admin mode (ZJDE0002)
Note: If you don’t have access to the ZJDE0002 version, you can select ZJDE0001. - Personal Form: Default
- Query: Default
- Name: You can leave the default name:
P98860X|W98860XA|ZJDE0002
- Description: You can leave the default description.
- Application:
- Click OK.
The Workflow Monitor application renders in the top, left pane. The Workflow Monitor application is not suited for a small pane. Don’t worry about that now. You will resize the panes in a subsequent exercise. - In the menu bar, click the Save icon.
- In the menu bar, click the Close icon to
close design mode and render your page in runtime mode.
Your Enterprise Automation Dashboard is almost complete. It now has two process model panes, one Widget pane, one Watchlist pane with two Watchlists, and the Workflow Monitor application.

Task 5: Adding the Orchestrator Health Monitor Application to a Composed Page
Like the Workflow Monitor, the Orchestrator Health Monitor is a good addition to your Enterprise Automation dashboard. It can keep you apprised of how your critical orchestrations are running.
- Begin with your composed page in design mode. If you are not already there from the previous exercise, sign in to the EnterpriseOne web client and click the tab for your EA Dashboard page. From the User menu (under your user ID), click Manage Content, and click Composed Pages.
- Click the Create New Content icon
.
- From the list of content types, click and hold EnterpriseOne Application, and drag it so that a blue box appears below the Workflow Monitor pane and to the left of the Watchlist pane. Then release the mouse button.
- On the Create Link to EnterpriseOne Application window, complete
the following fields:
- Application:
P980060X
- Form:
Health Monitor (W980060XA)
- Version: You can leave this blank
- Personal Form: Default
- Query: Default
- Name: You can leave the default name:
P980060X|W980060XA
- Description: You can leave the default description.
- Application:
- Click OK. The Health Monitor application renders in the bottom, left pane. Before you save your page for the last time, you can hover over the edges of the panes and use the horizontal and vertical bars to adjust the layout of the panes.
- When you complete making changes to the horizontal and vertical layout of the panes, on the menu bar, click the Save icon to save your page.
- On the menu bar, click the Close icon to
close the design view and display your page as a user would see
it.
Your completed Enterprise Automation dashboard looks something like this:

Conclusion
Congratulations! You have created one version of an Enterprise Automation Dashboard that comprises some relevant components of the Enterprise Automation framework. You have built an EnterpriseOne composed page with:
- Two process model panes
- One Widget pane
- One Watchlist pane with two Watchlists
- An application pane with the Workflow Monitor
- An application pane with the Orchestrator Health Monitor
And these are just a few of the content types you can add to an EnterpriseOne page. Your Enterprise Automation Dashboard can comprise whichever components best fulfill your need for monitoring data and processes. You can build and include other Widgets and Watchlists; you can include other EnterpriseOne applications; you can even include frames for external web sites. Using the skills you learned in these OBE exercises, you have complete control over the dashboards you build for yourself or for others to share.
