Understanding RDA Compare

The Report Design Aid (RDA) Compare tool in Oracle's JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Batch Application Design enables you to compare and merge one report to another of the same name. You can compare the details of reports to determine if objects have been added, deleted, or rearranged and whether the properties have changed.

This is useful when you have made modifications to an EnterpriseOne report and you upgrade, you can compare the base report to its new counterpart.

Use RDA Compare to see the changes between a software update and the pristine or current implementation. If you have performed a number of customized modifications, you can use the RDA Compare tool to validate and implement your customization.

RDA Compare will compare the following attributes:

Report

Compares the report interconnect templates.

Section

Only sections with the same section Id are compared. If a section does not have the same type (columnar or group) or business view, it and all child fields will be marked as protected.

  • Section Size

  • Section Properties

  • Color

  • Data Sequencing

Field

Fields with the same Id in a section are compared to each other. Fields with different DDICT and/or different data types with the same Id will show differences, and are marked protected.

  • Field Properties

  • Total Types

  • Field Style

  • Display Length

  • Display Decimals

  • Edit Code

  • Justification

  • Display Styles

  • Field Position

    Note:

In columnar section comparisons, field position differences are not marked as different as they are re-sorted and repositioned upon merge from a source to a target and are almost always different because of this.

  • Font Format

  • Field Color

  • Text Override

Note:

Table Conversions, tabular reports, reports with database mappings are not compared.
