Understanding Project Promotion

Starting with Tools Release 9.2.8, you can use Web OMW to promote a project. When you promote a project, the system moves all the Non - UDO objects in the project from central objects to active package. The Promote feature is the same as running a package build and deploy and the objects become available to all users running on the web immediately. You can promote the following objects:

• Applications
• Reports
• Report Versions
• Business Views
• Data Structures
• Processing Options
• Media Object.

When promoting a project, if objects such as UDO, data dictionary and UDC are in the project, they will not be promoted, but if a Table or Business function is in the project, you will not be allowed to promote the project.

Note: Activity rules are applied when Promote is selected.
