Create Export Directory

If you are using a Microsoft Windows (or equivalent) environment, before you export 1099 data to a text file, you must complete the following tasks:

  • Create a folder called export in the pathcode folder under the B9 directory on your C drive, for example, C:B9\PY9\export. If you are on a higher release, for example E900, then the pathcode folder will fall under the E1 directory. The export process creates the text file in this folder.

If you are using a web client, you must create a directory on your enterprise server. The path must be \\EnterpriseServerName\PathCode\export, for example, \\EnterpriseServerName\PD811\export. The word export must be typed in lower case.

  • When you execute the flat file table conversion process, if the export folder is not present in release directory for example, \\EnterpriseServerName\Pathcode\export, then the system creates the export folder. If the export folder exists, then the file is created with in this folder.

Note: From tools release 9.1.3 onwards, if the export folder does not exist, then the folder is created by the table conversion process.
Note: If you experience difficulty locating the IRSTAX.txt file, check the JDEDEBUG on the Export 1099 Electronic Work File to CSV program (R8904515OW). The log should specify the directory to which it was able to write.
